Air Conditioner system squeaks in John Deere 3720

I have a squeak coming from the engine when the air conditioner is turned on in a JD 3720. Anyone have any experience on how to fix this or what is actually squeaking. Thanks for you help in advance.

Thanks Woody, Do you think spray belt dressing would correct this. I don't use the machine everyday and could the belt be affected from that? Will it cause a bigger problem if I use the AC anyway?

There are numerous things to cause a squeak from an AC compressor. Try the easy ones like a loose, worn, or old and hard belt. A bad bearing in an idler pulley could squeak when the added load comes on. High head pressure due to air in the system, bad bearing in the compressor, worn out clutch on compressor for starters. Isolation with a stethoscope or a screw driver in your ear may help pin it down.

AC belts have a adjuster to keep the belt tight. Tighten the belt up until tight with a Half inch to three quarters of an inch deflection when the belt is pressed on middle ways between two pulleys.

Success, I got lucky this time by spraying the belts with V belt treatment. Did it 3 times with the belts in different positions before turning on the AC. Going to spray this stuff on all my belts once a year from now on. Thanks for all your input.

Belt dressing is a great way to diagnose a noisy belt. Those squeaks are your belts telling you it's time for you to get out your wallet
