Flail Mower Alamo Flail Mower

I am looking at this used mower. I was looking for the newer style Alamo mower but found this one. Anybody have one this old that can give me an idea of what to expect. Alamo said it is a F6 and that it was made between mid 70s and mid 80s. They said some parts for it have been discontinued. Does it work as well as the new ones? Any known problems?

gogreen, looks like a nice unit. It looks to be set up with the "finish cut" flails and drum, the flails look to be the same as those Flailmaster sells. I like the idea of the grade wheels rather than the roller that the SHDs come with-the bigger diameter seems like it would roll over bumps/holes easier.

One caution, there are two different drums and flail sets for finish-cut and rough-cut/brush. The finish cut flails are supposed to be less durable. What kind of terrain will you be using it on?

I am using a 5 foot Land Pride bush hog for field mowing. Mainly just grass but it can be tall grasses 2 - 3 feet. I would like to have a better cut quality than the bush hog gives me. I don't want to use my finish mower for fear of striking rocks or other objects. I also like the guage wheel setup on this Alamo but I have to wonder why they went away from it on the new ones. You are right, the guy just put those finish quality flails on it and he said they came from flailmaster.
