Has anyone ever seen one of these in person ?

2013 Cargomaxxx 6 5'x16' Aluminum Utility Trailer Spring BLOWOUT Price | eBay

This seller has been selling them on ebay for a while and I have been tempted.

The price is fairly comparable to a regular metal trailer.

I do worry about repairs if the deck ever gets damaged. At least with the steel trailer with wood decks you can throw on a new board, but with aluminum it would not be an easy fix.

The price of these does keep creeping up and up and I woul dhave to take a 12 hours round trip drive to Pittsburgh area to pick it up.

Thanks.

RedNeckRacin,

Thanks for the info. I'm on Baltimore so that would put it a little further away.

Aluminum trailers do have their own issues.
I have worked on aluminum semi trailers and suspension connection problems seem to be common. Steel fasteners in Alum need special consideration to prevent electrolesis.
While steel will tend to bend, Alum has more problems with cracking and breaking.
You do realize that unless you keep it in a vaccuum chamber and never use it, it won't stay that shinny?
You can probably buy two steel trailers for that price too.
I have a simular 6.5 X 16' steel trailer and have scaled it and it only weights 2-300 more lbs than they are stating.

Stimw, Ya.... I was thinking the same thing about the cost.

Maybe I should start scanning the local area for a decent used trailer.

I'm thinking I could pick one up for around $1500-1800.

Thanks !

You can buy a new 16' trailer for that.

I have to start shopping around......

The last person to post a AL trailer.... I pointed out i think they spent almost twice as much for the AL one vs a steel one for 600lbs of additional carrying capacity.

If you ask me they are the worst buy going in trailers.

schmism,

True.... the load capacity is not much different. Perhaps not worth any extra money.

Thanks for the info.

Yea, my 18' by 82" wide 7000# trailer is only 1500# with the spare, winch, and strap/chain box full. Its steel.
