If you are thinking about getting a plasma cutter I got the Amico CUT50 for less than $300 from Home Depot. But now that I have it I think it would have been cheaper to get it from Amazon for a bit cheaper (https://amzn.to/31EjQFf). It says it can cut up to 3/4" thick material. I have used it a few times now on a couple different projects and so far so good. I even tested it on 5/8" material and it cut it OK when I put new consumables on it and I tried 1" material but it was such slow goign I stopped. I was a little unsure how well it would work but I think its better than the $700 Harbor Fright one.
In the attachments forum I posted a thread about adding gussets to a TSC post hole digger and used this plasma cutter to cut out the gussets. Looking at the threads a bit more I think I should have posted that in the fixing DIY section. I also have a few other videos cutting up some old gas cylinder tanks for random projects.
Here I unbox the Amico: Unboxing - Amico Plasma Cutter - CUT 50 & Weld Table Project - YouTube
Here I cut 5/8" material and it doesn't go well at first until I switch out the consumables: Amico CUT50 - Cutting 5/8" and 1" Thick Steel Plate - YouTube
I hope you guys find this helpful.
