His English is quite good. Better than mine, due to the sad state of our current education system.
"A free people ought not only to be armed, but disciplined; to which end a uniform and well-digested plan is requisite; and their safety and interest require that they should promote such manufactories as tend to render them independent of others for essential, particularly military, supplies."
" A free people" (that is what we used to be) "ought not only be armed but disciplined" (We should have guns and the training to use them,) and to accomplish that end (or as we would say today a goal), a well thought out plan for all is required. And the free peoples safety and their own self interest will require that they build factory's that will make them (the free people) independent of anyone else for the military supplies (guns and other arms) that are essential for the people to remain free.
George just said it more eloquently than I.
In ww2, we were able to re tool our factories to support the war.. Nowadays? What factories?
That's what R.E. Lee said...!...if the South would have had just one cannon factory...there would be "fish & grits", fried okra vendor carts on NYC streets...these days...!...What factories?...
That's a real problem...and with our pussified younger folks...we'd be screwed if another major war started.

And who did that to them... their parents.
I scored this M72 Match 30-06 Ammo from a neighbor, all early 1960s, most from Lake City but some from Frankford Arsenal. Well, you don't see this every day. I hope it shoots good in my M1 Garand.
