Another roof ? How do I get lichens off roof?

I also had a zinc strip installed when a new roof was installed on a north facing roof. Has worked for 25 years and keeps moss and lichen from growing. Have only had to manully clean the roof once.

I also read that zink strips is the proper cure for roof moss.
The zink oxide acts like a herbicide for moss.

Irrespective of that.... it's got some interesting (good?) info in it. I think I have them growing on a corner of roof and never thought about how to get rid of!

now I have some ideas.

To be fair, only the first 8 posts are 20 years old. Think of it like a re-released song.

My question is why bother? In the 20 years or so that the shingles are good, what will the lichens do? Is it just aesthetics? Not a problem here, just curious.

It is a bit of a cycle I think. Areas where we had them held dirt and could lift the edge of the shingles.
