Anyone got any good sites for downloading new movies? That is affordable?

In the past, I have downloaded from torrent sites. I dont do that anymore (as it is illegal). I know lots of people still do and use VPN's to hide their true IP and location, and pay $40-$100 per year for a good VPN just to download illegal torrents.

There is maybe 10 movies a year I would be interested in downloading. Not many. But most places I have looked charge $20 or more for some of the good shows. More than I want to spend.

Is there any good places similar to itunes for music, that I can download an occasional new release for ~$5 or so??

The whole file sharing and torrents, and legality, is a rather large can of worms, and I have my opinions, but would like to do things right.

Yeah, the video section at your local big box. I frequently see large bins of older movies for under $10 a box. Then you have it forever, legal, and can loan it to friends.

Rarely go to town, dont own a DVD player, and it is the current movies I like to watch. Looking for someway to download them.

And when you can buy a new release DVD for ~20 bucks, I would certainly think I could download for 4-5 bucks. Since there is no hard material to be produced, no middle men, no transportation of goods, and no store mark-ups.

Oh, and technically, from what I have read, that can be a grey area as well. Again, this whole file sharing thing is a big can of worms. But "technically" when you buy a DVD, you are only buying the rights to watch it. IF you loan it to friends, it is "technically" just as illegal as file sharing online. Only they cannot track if you loan your buddy a DVD.

Because you can rent and you have time to watch them. After that time is over it was a joke to what happens.

Use Amazon. They have movies you pay to watch. You "own" the video and it stays on the Amazon cloud. We buy Amazon Prime to save money on shipping and it gets us some video that does not cost us more money to watch. There are other videos that you have to pay for even with Prime.

Course, Netflicks is only a few dollars a month and we use that as well. Far better and cheaper than cable/sat. We cut the "cord" in 12/2012 and have not looked back. Should have cut the "cord" many years ago.

Until recently we used Netflix rentals. Now we stream Netflix. The cost is the same, you can stream movies more than sending dvd's back and forth in the mail. That doesn't help if you want to store them locally on disk.

The Netflix dvd's would come with gooey fingerprints or scratches. No fun getting 2/3 of the way through a movie and then the player hick-ups on a scratch.

I wish we could cut the cord, but without cell service here, and Sharon does a lot of on-line work and hobby stuff, it won't happen. We can only get 3-4 broadcast TV signals with an antenna and amplifier. We are married to the cable for now.

I-tunes and Amazon and Google play allow you to purchase movies but they are pretty expensive. You might look into Roku or Apple Tv for ease of use to these sights. I use a Pivos Xios box, that I run these services on. You can also run third party sites on the Xios box. The Xios runs a linux version of XBMC, you can run XBMC on computers, apple tv's and these android boxes. The third party apps, can connect you to dowload sites, that you would want to use a vpn for. If are interested in this search for XBMC, it is a cool user built operating system that is based on the original x-box media program.
Good luck, Dave
