Brand new to your forum. My old Ford is about to die and I'm interested in a Kubota around the corner from me that looks like it just came out of the crate.
It's beautiful. He's asking $11,900 but flexible...seems high for a 33 year old tractor but comes with some attachments. Any idea what it's worth or what to offer?
Thank you for any input....here's the ad >

It's Way high. It's a stripped down 30 hp standard shift gear tractor with some fairly low dollar attachments. You don't mention a loader, only forks, which I guess might mean loader, but very well could be 3 point forks. The early Kubotas are good tractors, but without a loader I'd say $3500-6000 (the high end only in areas where old tractors are rare and hard to find, ie new England ect); and maybe $1500 for attachments and $1500 If it has a good loader on it; so $5000-7500 with out loader, absolute top I could imagine would be $9k. You can get a brand new Mahindra 2wd 30-40 horse for what, $15k. I'm sure the guy sunk a lot of money into it, and time; but 33 year old machine with clean paint and some replaced parts just ain't worth that.

Thanks ph, yes, it does have a loader and is in amazing shape and he said he's willing to talk on price but I wont get him down more than $500-1000 so we're still taking $10-11k. The prices up here for tractors right now are ridiculous so I'm sure I'm getting porked this time of year. Also has no PS which even my old ford 801 has, although for this machine might not need it.

Here's an example of what else is out there for less; this is a local dealer too, so extra mark up. Kubota L2850 Tractor

Edit: I have an L285 2WD. No loader, but I don't Need power steering. I wouldn't not buy one because of PS, but I don't think I would pay nearly new price for one without. I also would much prefer at least a mechanical shuttle with the loader. It is a sharp looking tractor, but I think for same money (or just a touch more) you would have nicer. For that price I would think lots of used dealer trades ect in the range. Might be worth driving a couple hundred miles if you find something good.

Re-Edit: What do you have for implements for your Ford? If you don't need everything he's got the deal starts looking worse. You also might be a bit disappointed in the size after the utility sized ford. The L295 is not a large or heavy machine. The ford looks to be about 45 hp at engine, 39 at pto, so 6 ft impliments. Lot of those will be fine with the Kubota, but you'll miss the extra 1500+ lbs of weight with box blade, plow, ect.

Stupid money for a 30+ year old CUT with no P/S. There have been parts availability issues with 3 digit Kubotas for years, just like any Pacific rim tractor of that age.

As a comparison, if I was in the market for a new tractor, I would sell my 2009 B2620 with FEL and 580 hours for $11,900. That tractor is perfect.

Thanks everyone for their input about the specs and value. I agree. Although it seems brand new, it's 33 years old and way overpriced. I trust you tractor guys, if you all said "grab it", I'd be on my way over right now, but the consensus is it's way too much money. I'll keep looking. Thanks

I can say, from experience, that if you were to do any loader work at all, the lack of power steering would be an issue. I was able to find and add a Kubota PS aftermarket kit to my '86 B8200 (which was about as clean as this L295DT) which sold for $7500 with rear chains and work lights, and a HD Deere rear scraper blade. Maybe 600 hours.

From the picture there are some flags that, while not red, are not green either. It's recent paint makes it look good - but what condition was everything in before the "restoration"? How are the hydraulics? Is the 2-stage clutch in good condition? Steering linkage? The loader (not orig) seems to have several add-on welded plates (repaired?) any tag on it that indicates brand or rating? Rear fenders have been chopped off flat - which isn't necessarily bad but it's a shortcut that raises questions about how other things were fixed. A L295 in pristine original condition with low hours might be worth the asking price but this one really doesn't look to be in that category. What style cab is it? (pic?)

Just wanted to make a correction about the L295DT and F models. They don't have a 2-stage clutch, but the larger L305 and L345 similar looking models do.
