Anyone else find the JD ad a little annoying?

I think we are all agreed that the thing is annoying. Fact is some of us get more annoyance than others. I have an IBM laptop running Explorer 5, and the add works perfectly. On a Mac running Explorer 5, any link that would be covered by the add is dead the min. it appears on the screen, even if the add doesn't drop down.Muhammad has told us, it will be fixed soon, and I for one am willing to wait. Like many of you I am willing to put up with this if that is what supports the site. I see the add ... I reload the page. Muhammad certainly has enough to do without worrying about this. However, As a Kubota owner who once considered a JD, I think it is REALLY poor marketing for the JD people to continue to allow this thing to irritate so many people for so long on a tractor site. Muhammad did not write the code for this add. It is up to the guy who did to fix it. If I was working at JD, the guy would not go home again until it was working properly and we all got quite about it. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

You know Hawk, I think that must be it. It seems on my laptop that if I get near it it pops down, but using my wifes desktop was no problem. Of course, hers has a real mouse and not the finger type. My big finger covers half the square provided to mouse the cursor.

/w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gifI am becoming increasingly certain that the link problem is only occuring on my Mac. But you know what? While I am generally a laid back person, this ad is increasingly bothersome. /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif For some reason the last few days it has appeared more frequently. Seems like JD should pay A LOT MORE for an add that occupies about 6 times the screen real estate that other ads occupy. Fact is when it displays, even if it never drops down, it occupies 1/4 of my entire screen. Other ads never exceed the top 1/16./w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif

I thought Muhammad had already "fixed" that ad. For awhile, it was popping up on my screen and preventing me from continuing on the forum, but now even when it drops down, I just go ahead and click on whatever I want to do and it works. And of course, it doesn't drop down unless I run the cursor over it. I don't like it, but like Cowboydoc, it ain't hurtin' me and since they're undoubtedly paying Muhammad more than I am/w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif . . ., well, I don't have any complaint.

Its still doesn 't work right for me. I'm using IE5 on a Windows 98 laptop. And with slow dialup refreshing is a pain....

But I'll live with it.

It still doesn't work right on my machine. I have tried working the problems from my end and still no hope. I am living with it, but it is a constant irritant. While I understand the need for the ad(s) (and the first time I saw it, I looked at all the tabs), I still think the thing should live inside it's box like every one elses does. I think it was rather dasterdly of JD to send this to Muhammad and expect him to deal with the problem. It is ineresting that there is so much variety in the situation. I tried the site from a Dell laptop running Win 98 and IE5 and it worked fine. From my Mac it is a constant annoyance.

Rat, personally I'm far more irritated by the Gempler's Tire Shop ad. Nothing against Gempler's. It's just that all of that 'activity' there is very distracting.

In either case, however, I'm happy they chose to advertise on TBN and hope they continue to do so (but maybe without those tire tracks). /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I find it irritating too but if that's the price I have to pay for being able to particpate in this forum so be it. I will not complain.

If you think that JD ad is annoying..........try connecting from out of town on a 486 laptop running Win95 and IE3 and see what happens to that ad. No drop downs, it just appears on every page and takes up over half of it.
But at least I did get to check TBN while out of town /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

Yes, I find it annoying - but it works as I believe it should for me - IE 5.5, SP 2 on Win 2000 Pro. And I also support the fact that somebody's got to foot the bill and whatever JD is being charged for this add space, it's a bargain.

Not sure if this add is made with java or not, but I was just wondering if anyone else has the same, low regard for this language as I do. I understand the need for this type of language, I just find that it is less than reliable. When I visit sites that use it and I have to refresh the screen because one of the applets didn't load properly, I have to start all over again - sometimes even having to clear my cache first. Quite frustrating.
