Tractor
L3130
posted before about lack of power when turning on slight incline, puffs and HUFFS black smoke then dies. Low gear with crawl speed. Not HST or operator problem, PTO lever in off position, no pump strain issue. The tractor just seems to be poorly designed, engine vs Frame weight. Communicated with Western Stockton, CA REP and he literally told me 3-4 months to get to me and that I was stupid. WHAT THE HECK is going wrong with Kubota? ALSO, Boom lock pin fell out 5 minutes after I got it. BRAND NEW 3130, 50 hours, no white smoke, Not dyno tuned as I suspect DESIGN issues, BEWARE of this "L" GRAND series before you buy. OH! it works fine if it's on level ground with backhoe and bucket. ANY input my 3rd and last KUBOTA.

You need to bring your machne in to the dealer & have them analyze the problem. My 3130 has plenty of power, Infact it impresses me very often. I have an la 723 loader with the bh90 hoe. I can carry a fully loader bucket of topsoil in my loader bucket up very steep hills in #6 or 7 on my gst. She rips! Get yours checked out asap because something is radically wrong with it!

I mentioned something to my dealer about using high range and the tractor bogging down when travelling roads on even the slightest incline and he told me that the 3130 is underpowered for its weight. It makes me wonder why they offer this frame size with that engine and why he didn't mention this before I bought it. I probably would have gone with the 3400.
I still love it, though. There's always going to be something one tractor does better than another and it's extremely stable.

Have you had a hydro before? There are some tricks to them and I can tell you they normally are fine. As far as the hydro they normally operate fine but when used to gears they do have a learning curve. The 3130 is the smallest of that chassis design but they are not low on power unless over ballasted.

I have only 4.8 hours on my L3130 GST, (it was delivered about a month ago). First I had a hydraulic leak, then I noticed the tilt cylinders were hitting the boom on the fel. After the dealer changed the quick coupler it is okay now. I tightened a fitting and the hydraulic leak stopped. My dealer tells me that I will destroy the clutch if I use it other than when hooking up equipment. Now after reading your post I'm beginning to wonder about my 3130. I'm going to keep mine a while longer, but it may end up in the Georgia Farmers & Consumers Market Bulletin. I just don't want a tractor that will have to be "Babied", I had an International 140 Farmall for 23 years and never had any major problems. I would reverse the scrape blade and use it to uproot saplings and privet hedge. I bottom plowed, harrowed, cultivated, piled brush and mowed with it. I kept it serviced and it lasted. The price I got for the 140 and all the equipment paid for the fel on the L3130.

Like Art, I don't know if you have had a hydro before or not, but when you need more power you have to let up on the pedal. The hydro pedal is in essence similar to a gear shift, not an fuel pedal.

There's not much more irritating than spending big dollars on a tractor and it not working! Unfortunately, I've had a couple of issues with my last JD, and my current Kubota 5030. In both cases, it's disappointing to say, I had to jump up and down and email over and over the factory to get a response. Also, in both cases the factory reps got involved and fixed the problem. I don't know if quality control is an issue with Kubota and JD, or if it is just my luck. Anyway, hopefully if you go to their website and continue to send them emails detailing your problem, you will move up on their priority list.

I was ready to forget both JD and Kubota, but both eventually came through for me. The similarity with what you are describing and what I experienced with both JD and Kubota is that my problems surfaced almost immediately. The good news is, with both, after finally getting the issues addressed, the tractors were fine. Good luck!

We run L3130HST-Fs in our rental fleet and really don't see many issues with them and that is with many and varied operators. There is a "learning curve" associated with using the hydrostatic transmission that is a little different from other transmissions though. I think you need to get your tractor to the dealer because something is wrong.

You are without a doubt in the minority in your opinion about the L3130. Sure it's the smallest HP in the L30 line and you would or should expect less performance then the larger HP designs. Did you actually give this tractor a test drive? I did and felt it would not be strong enough for my hilly terrain with HST. I have the L3830 as a result. I suspect that no matter what brand you get with a similar transmission and HP, your not going to be happy. I suggest you not drive it anymore, keep it clean and sell it for close to what you paid for it. When you look for a new brand, just be aware that less HP will undoubtedly limit your tractor's ability to do things as quickly. If this is truly your 3rd and last Kubota, I have to ask why are you still buying this brand when you've been so disappointed?

I took it that when ramon said low gear and crawl speed, that he was talking about gear drive and not the HST.
I was talking about my tractor, which is HST,
My dealer said that the 3130's were underpowered for their size, I'm not sure if he was differentiating between trannys or not. Maybe if the high range wasn't as high or the tires weren't loaded...

It has a lot more power than my B7500 did, but that tractor I could take up the road in high range and with the HST pedal to the metal, not so with my 3130. Just my experience. I think you're definitely paying for frame and not power.
