Hi -

Just read some posts about the usefullness of slip clutches to prevent damage to transmissions of tractors using tillers on rocky ground (which is all there is in most of middle Tennessee...

Has anyone out there installed one of these on your tractor? Did it require any adjustment or new purchase of pto shafts?

Where did you buy it...is the one listed on TSC an appropriate one for the fx24d, or is there a supplier here on TBN I could order from?

Thanks!

Joel

I used a slip clutch on my tiller. PTO shaft needed to be shortened, since that tiller sits pretty close to the rear tires. Works/ed great.

BTW, I needed to grind a grove into the splines on the tiller shaft to lock the slip clutch. Took all of 5-10 minutes (that included finding the grinder.)

thanks!

The pto shaft that came with my tiller is one of those 2 piece deals that can be adjusted for length up to about 6 inches...the ones that only go together one way? Does anybody know what i'm talking about...I'm at work, otw I'd post a picture...anyway, it looks like there'll be enough room to add the slip clutch and cut down on the extension of the 2 piece shaft.

Thanks for the tip about grinding the shaft!
