Needing to replenish my grease supply, I bought a 10 pack of Texas Refinery Corporation 880 c and c grease. Its ngli #2, specs out real good, low and high speed bearings plus a 100 timkin o.k load.

It beat the chevron delo starplex I have been using pretty much on every count. It cost around 20 bucks more than the chevron stuff from my local dealer and less than most other comparable synthetics, so I Figgered what the heck.

I bought a case years ago and still have supply on hand… no complaints.

Ultrarunner, do you use it on all the equipment you have listed under your avitar or just the heavier equipment like the dozers and the like??

I use TRC C&C 880 on everything with a grease fitting. Same as my dad did. Same as his dad did. Probably closing in on 75 years of using only that grease on the farm.

Good to know LHF. Thee generations of use says something about the grease.... one thing it's that's good of a product to have stuck around that long, pun not intended maybe, two that your family obviously have zero issues with it after 75 years.

The last time I bought a case of it the price came out to $9.xx/tube. The case before that was $7.xx/tube. Case lasts me 2 years or so depending on how many wheel bearings I feel like packing. Grease won't go bad. I order direct from TRC. Alternative if buying by the box is significantly more expensive.

Buy my grease in bulk 135 pound open head drums for my air greaser and all my lever guns have a bulk load fitting on them and I keep them filled from the bulk air greaser. I do have clear polycarbonate barrels on all of them so I can see when they are low and require refilling. My specialty grease guns take cartridges, something I don't care for but I don't use all that much so changing them is very infrequent.

Grease cartridges are inherently messy whereas bulk loading grease guns isn't as no greasy hands and no empty cartridges to go to a landfill in the trash.

Not only that but bulk grease is much less expensive than individual cartridges. Like anything, the larger the quantity purchased, the lower the per unit cost is. Why I buy my lube oil and hydraulic fluid in 55 gallon drums as well. No plastic bottles to landfill either and the drums are on exchange anyway plus I can 'deposit' the used fluids back in a drum and my supplier takes them back so no mess and no landfill candidates.

That's nice.
Back in my youth when we were logging and farming the distributor would deliver all our oil and fuel by the delivery truck to refill the 250 gallon tanks for the oils and 2000 gallons of fuel, grease by the 30 hal drums and 5 gallon pails.

Glad im not that busy anymore....
I was just wondering who used 880 grease and maybe some input about the grease...
