I'm looking for JD dealer flat rate for R&R traction clutch on a 5603 MFWD/cab tractor. Local dealer quoted charge is 17 hrs @ $85 per hr. Sounds high to me.

Cab is listed at 17.5 hours and open station is 14 hours.

Thanks for info. I guess I've been out of the loop to long because I didn't think it would take that long to R&R a clutch on an older equivalent size JD tractor. What on a cab tractor requires 3.5 more hours to complete the job?

After viewing the replaced parts this morning I understand better. The PP(1st parts photo) has a spring cushioned disk that powers trans built into it that failed IE the springs virtually fell out.

OUCH! That hurts. But, a tractor without a clutch is worthless.
Crazy thing is, I can have a new clutch put in my Kenworth for about $1500. (includes parts and labor)

Clutch kit for the 5603 is nearly $1000 plus 17 hrs to R&R clutch plus 3 hrs to R&R quick-tach loader. 20 hrs seems high to me.
