Didn't mean to mix a couple subjects here. It was a sidebar about hooks. Not T-posts, but something heavy was lifted which is what bent the top of my bucket.

I use an el-cheapo hand operated (GASP!) T post puller. I have found it to be quicker than positioning the tractor and 2-3 trips on and off it to hook the chain, etc. just remove the wire and post all in at the same time, is easy, cost about 15.00 at Harbor freight. I know this does nothing to justify tractor ownership though. Well maybe, I do use the bucket to hold/carry the pulled posts.

Ben, you and I do it the same way, but with my heavy clay I usually end up struggling even when using the jack to pop them out. I was looking for a way that would use the advantages of the hydraulics rather than the muscle strength of the hand jack.

I have some old tow straps that I use with the tractor for pulling old trees, etc.

I used it to pull up a few old signposts in my field - worked great. I just wrapped it around the FEL nice and secure, and then wrapped one end around the bottom of the post - you don't have to tie it, as just wrapping it a few times makes it very secure. It popped them right out, didn't bend them, and was easy to unwrap the strap. Alot lighter than chains.

I have heavy red clay with flint rock. I don't have any problem pulling t-posts, but my tractor is larger than yours. I have two hooks, one on each side in-line with the hydraulic cylinders. I wrap a chain around both hooks and then hook one end to the chain in the middle. That way I have all of the pull in the middle.

Basically what I did was to take the puller attachement (the part that slides over your T-post and put that on the end of a chain using a screw link. Wrap that chain around your FEL. Drop it over the fence post (it works easier with two people) and lift. It is a breeze!

Bob, You're getting good info. My setup is similar to some already mentioned. Blow two holes maybe six inches apart in a short heavy metal plate. Hook a short pc. of chain in one hole and attach the other end of chain to bucket(I hook to my hayspear) raise the bucket high enough and you can manuever the plate's other hole over the post from the tractor seat and pull. Doesn't bend one often or bad. A more professional pulling bracket is readily available (sans chain) at local CO-OPs for about 10-15 bucks.
