I look at the price of new CUTs, and I blanch. I wonder if the price is growing out of reach for more and more first time buyers. Maybe it's that we get locked into what the prices were when we were first interested in CUTs. Maybe I''m just an old fart that says I remember when ... I was lucky enough to buy all my CUTs used for very good prices (after a lot of searching).

  • So, do CUT sales continue unabated?
  • Do first time buyers simply buy smaller/cheaper models?
  • Do first time buyers wait longer to buy?
  • Or ???

That's exactly why I bought this tractor last summer. It's a 2002 MF451 W/ 513hrs, FEL, $14,000.
I wanted a compact tractor, but prices are unreasonable IMO.

The vast majority of people, even ones with good incomes, can’t afford them so they take on debt to get one.

I think every type vehicle pricing is too high. I also think I've bought my last auto / truck 9 years ago. Price on my truck alone has almost doubled in that same time.
Someone has to pay for inflation, materials, higher wages, more benefits, etc. It will always be the consumer.

Yes, but I retired 9 years ago and my cost of living wage has NOT kept up with inflation. I don't know of anyone whose wage has doubled in that same period.

I say yes. I baulked and bought low hours used for 40% less than new.
Manufacturers have definitely crossed a line where a lot of people refuse to go no matter the product.

My problem is my anchor point. When John Deere was feeling the footsteps from Kubota, they came out with the more affordable 3032E (around 2010). You could buy one with a loader and a free back blade for $15,000. Now it would be $32,000+ without a back blade. My brain hasn't kept up.

All I know is, my local Kubota dealer is selling smaller units and larger ones ay about the same pace as in previous years. I know as I work there part time.

Why Kubota at least is being creative with financing and special offers. Don't know about other brands, however, just Kubota.

Personally speaking. I feel all hard goods, tactors, UTE's, cars and trucks and motorcycles are all overpriced but all that is a result of inflation worldwide and until inflation is curbed, nothing will change. Come to think about it, soft goods like food is overpriced as well...

What's the alternative? Make your own? Only so many used units available. Certainly some of us are priced out, but there are still people buying new. Some people will migrate to the lower priced brands. TYM, etc.
