Hello, just wondering if anyone has ever used one of the pay sites to search for someone. Some prices are almost $60 for 1 detailed report, yet other sites let you search for a full year cheaper than that. Has anyone tried any of the sites available?
Any advice on good sites, or sites to stay away from?

Many, many THANKS!! :)

Have you tried Find a Friend - High School Military College Class Reunions ? It has a free feature that lets you join and search for people that are registered. If you know what school they went to and they have registered, it's easy to find people that way. I joined and found quite a few of my high school friends that way.

Free People Search by ZabaSearch!
is free and I tracked down an old navy buddy recently using it and recalling he was from a certain city. Sometimes it will give a year born which helps.

Also for free, you might just try a Google search. I found a fair amount about old friends just by Googling their names.

Some of these have already been pinged by other members, but to reiterate:

Yahoo People
Google
Intellius - pay site, but they are no doubt the best as long as you know enough details about him to be able to rule out the other knuckleheads out there.!

I use CIS Worldwide, pay site, but a one time charge will get you free usage for life on some of the basic search routines.

If he was Navy: United States Navy - Together We Served

Marines: United States Marine Corps - Together We Served

Don't know about the Army or Air Force.

If you know what county he lived in recently, you can sometimes google that county's tax collector or clerk of the courts and pull public records. Sometimes you'll get a clue as to where they went, etc.

Good luck

THANKS!

How's that CIS Worldwide site? How detailed can the report be, or is most info just address, phone #, and other basic info.

The government does a fair amount of carrying information on people.
See if your county records are on-line. That will get a wealth of information.

Google has some really spiffy advanced searches to.

Google U.S. Government Search

The one above limits to searching US of A sites, only.
