Hello all,

I'm new to the group and need some help. my question, is there any differences from the o8 and 10 year b 2920. I have a chance to buy a o8 that was a harvest rental and has 45 hours and was told it would cost another 4 to 5 grand to get a 10 model. I was also told don't be worried about the year it is the hours that matter, is this true? it would come with a full warranty since I would be the first owner. I would appreciate all thoughts.

Trust but verify.

How sweet to get 4 grand off or more. Now, the realities.

Any signs of abuse? Anything odd or "not right"? Is this at a dealer? The B series seems a bit small for a harvest machine, but I don't know what was meant by that. Is there a FEL included? If at a dealer, would he be doing a complete fluid drop, Hydro and oil, and install new filters, including fuel and especially air filter? I think I'd make that part of any deal.

If this all checks out, I'd love to save that kind of money.

Thanks for the reply. Yes it is at a dealer and I have talked him into the fluid exchange. What is FEL? Also is the 2920 a good machine? From what I have read it is.

So, what price have you been quoted? You haven't said.

A B2920, with FEL (loader) two years old, used, (and yes, I am qualifying it as used, makes no difference that it wasn't titled, imho, can be gotten around here for $14,500-$15,500. That would be my personal high water mark. Below that, I'd consider it a solid good deal, IF the machine is really unharmed and very, very nice. If it looks like it has been abused in any way, paint all faded, rust showing anywhere, etc, I'd pass, frankly. That's just me.

Jim, there may be no difference at all between an 08 and a 10 model. In fact, it's conceivable you could end up with a 10 model that was manufactured BEFORE the 08 model!.
That whole model year designation is something that worked so well for the automotive industry that every so often the tractor manufacturers give it a try too. But it doesn't really fit because traditionally a tractor's model year is the year that they are first sold, not the year that they are manufactured. You may be able to find the actual date of manufacture if your dealer keeps a record of the "manufacturer's statement of origin". Some do; some don't. Anyway, when they are first sold is when the warranty begins. Also by common agreement, dealers sometimes chose models do demos at harvest festivals and shows and actual harvest in the fall. These "harvest hours" are sort of a grey area....but tradition wins out and so the tractor broken in that way isn't considered as second owner or used. A new warranty is normal. Yes, they are stretching a point, but farmers and ag dealers don't care because the system works well for everyone. However, a discount is also typical, as is a free 50 hour service including all filters.

A new one "stickers" at $18,000. If you get 9% off sticker, you'd give it right back in sales tax, given your tax rate. So, say $18,000.

So, you did very well. I would say the claims of savings $5000 by your dealer was typical sales hype, but you still did OK. Don't look back.

Model years are traditionally a little whackier on a tractor than an auto. Build date is one thing and "put into service" date is another, as stated above. Since there isn't a title, it matters little. It would be fair to think of yours as an '09 sort of, given the hours. That splits the difference.

Now, the important thing. We Want Pictures!!!!:D:D

have a current price of $17,900.00 without tax for B2920, FEL and 60" mmm (mid mount mower), fel runs $3000 list, mmm lists at $2500 so tractor alone is probably around $13,000.00 to $13,500.00 assuming discounts on fel and mmm.

One more thing guys. What would a new one cost with FEL?

I'd say you did very well, I took delivery of a new one in April and paid $15,100 for the tractor and FEL (tax excluded).
Also is the 2920 a good machine? From what I have read it is.

Jim
At this point I've still only put about 30 hours on it, and that was mostly mowing, but I'm quite pleased with the choice I made. For mowing, it might have been a bit smaller, but for other stuff I'll be doing the 2920 looks to be the right one. In quality I would reckon it's as good as any other 'bota, it's getting the right machine and attachments or your use that's the key (says a tractor newbe).
