20_20: You can have my turn in the icy water :laughing: I've never understood how people can do that. They have Polar Bear clubs around here that run in the ocean or take a quick dip in a lake every year around New Years time. No thanks.

Dave ... I have had like maybe 1/4" of a slush type of ice ... first time we chopped holes. Was worried the animals where going to venture out on it, hit 40 yesterday and woke to 37 ... no more frozen pond.
Thanks. I wonder sometimes about animals 'ice sense'. Not uncommon for deer and moose to go through ice around here. Last winter a deer went across our pond and left 6"-8" deep footprints in the slush. I was surprised it made it across and glad I didn't have to look at a dead deer sticking out of the iceYou were probably right to worry about the horses.
Hopefully you won't be chopping holes again.
