PDe,

Since you started this post and "surely" have some seat time on that BH, how about some pics and comments on using it? /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Sad to say only one dig for about 10 mins total /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif. Work, schoolwork and weather (lots of rain) have kept me away from the toy, er I mean essential tool. My bride did take photos but had the camera set to ultra high resolution. We're working to reduce the file size so I can post all the pics.

Overall, the hoe worked GREAT! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Good digging power, especially with the bucket cylinder. First time at the controls, I dug a two foot (roughly) square hole, 18 inches deep in under 5 minutes in packed soil. During the dig I found a couple of rocks (one basketball size), lifted them out with the hoe, then filled-in the hole. More pics on the way.

PDe

Looks real good !! I think you can post the files in the gallary, without too much of a file size limit...

Back from the Canary Islands, my Woods backhoe has not been so rosy:

1) Woods forgot to send the sub-frame. Two more weeks delay.
2) Installing backhoe, 6 bolts missing.
3) One of the quick release pins that hold the hoe refuses to get in, despite careful alighment. Still looking into why. Using bolt at the moment.
4) Sub-frame interfere with 54" mower gear housing. Had to raise rear of 2210 with car jack, so much for 3 minutes mower setup.
5) Sub-frame 50% interfere with mower lifting arm points, making an awful racket. Very annoying.
6) The woods delivered seat was torn.

Otherwise, the sub-frame is VERY stiff, grabbing hold of the hoe and shaking it shakes the entire tractor in unison with the hoe,e.g: no bending. Recreational digging with the 2210 and this hoe presents to worries.

At least the dealer gave me a free Case cap, which is more than I can say for the 2210 dealer.

See attached picture of my lazy susan seat device which allows the 2210 seat to be swung around to use the hoe. Sorry can't show much more unless I disable it, and with the prioblems I've had, I'm not too happy at the moment! :-(

sdowell,

Thanks for posting the seat pic--very clever. Hope all your gremlins get worked out in short order! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Fewer spelling mistakes this time around (I was steaming back then!) :)

I've solved the mower jamming into the sub-frame (Woods leaves no room here) by removing and bending the sub-frame arms another 3/8" and adding further shimming plates at the front. It is still annoying though to have to lift the 2210 with a jack to get the mower under it. PDe, do you have this problem?

Attached is a picture (a fake one! that hole was made a day previous). Note the YELLOW seat, the original 2210 on a lazy susan. Yup, it's a John Deere cap on me head: I had to buy it, no freebies from JD! :-(

Anyway, have no fear, the hoe is solidly attached to the 2210 and transfers the loads properly. If you want a hoe, get one, but it's a small one, with barely a 6 foot sphere of influence! :)

Ciao

sdowell,

Glad you got it worked out. But that soil doesn't look anything like our New England rocks n clay! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif To get the mower deck under the tractor, can you just lift the front up with the loader?
