Anybody who has a 2810 HST please take notice.

The other day I was mowing as done many days before and the tractor acted strange. I had no control over the speed nor direction of my tractor and even better yet it would not stop moving! Neither of the pedals had any resistance to them and dropped to the floor board.
There have been a number of items people have had the pleasure of experiencing and passing along the fix. Heres another. Crawl up under the tractor where the Hydro filter is and look on the right side of the tractor. There is a lever coming off the pump with a tie rod end and rod which goes back to the hydro pedals. (forward and reverse). Check the jam nut it should take a 12 mm wrench on the tie rod end and make sure it is tight. Mine apperantely was never tightened at assembly and from a couple years of use pulled the threads out of the aluminum rod end. This is a left hand thread, parts are not really expensive but. . . if you have to change it well it is a real problem. I had to do alot of grinding to get the bad rod end out. Its a simple fix but real hard to get to. Do your self a favor and give it a look. Sorry I have no pictures for this. .John

About an year ago I had the exact same problem on my 2810hst. I had to grind a depression in the casting to remove tie rod end. The only other way would have been to split the tractor. Could have been design better for service. (steel ends rather than aluminium) There is also a nitrogen cylinder to soften the rebound on the connecting arm you might want replace. This device wore out at about 700 hours. This puts more strain on those tie rod ends. When the cylinder is working as it should it slows down the return of the pedals giving you a smoother transition on speed change.

Brings back memories of when the end broke off the hydro pedal centering return spring at max rpms bush hogging in dense trees. I cheated the reaper that day.

Since then I use a secondary smaller spring along with the main. By itself it returns to center slow but it does return.

You might get yourself a bottle of Vibra-TITE VC-3 å¾¹riginal which you can use to pull on the outside threads to stop the nut from backing out. Since reading earlier postings I decided to coat all my rod threads just as to prevent any problems since it works on both internal or external threads.
A small bottle costs around 21 dollars on Ebay, not cheap but neither is having to repair the tractor.
