Finally got the ok from the wife to get a real tractor. Torn between B2620 vs. the JD2320. Tractor will be primarily used for mowing about 3 acres of lawn. Looking at the 60" MMM. FEL work will consist of moving compost, gravel, wood. Need a rotary tiller for 60x60 garden. And finally a box blade to level out the lawn. Some hills on edges of property. Checking all the posts it seems the Kubota will come in cheaper. I still have yet to go talk to a salesman. I'll probably start this weekend going to the dealers. I'm 6'5 240lb not sure if that will make a difference on the seat and platform. Main difference I can see is the 3 range hydro on the KUB vs. 2 range on the JD. Loader speed and strength are about = but the KUB comes out on top. Biggest delemma is the green vs. orange color. I like the green but, if the KUB come in thousand or so cheaper then that is the kind of green I really like. Have about 19k to spend. Just looking for someone to sell me on either machine. Thanks in advance.

When I bought a Kubota BX2350, JD was about 20% higher. Have you thought about a BX series? My only worry would be at your height, it might be to small. I run mine with the seat all the way back, and I'm 6'-1". Try one at the dealer.

BX might be a little small. I will try them. Thanks for the reply.

I have a B2620. I am 6' 3 1/2 and also over 200 (not quite 240:)) and I think the 2620 will fit you a lot better than the Bx. I had a New Holland SCUT (same exact tractor as the bx) and this was one of the main reasons I upgraded a lot more platform room on the 2620. I dont think you can go wrong w/ either brand but I too looked at the Deere and they are almost deffinitly going to come in more expensive. As far as the 3 ranges another reason I traded up to the 2620 as my NH only had 2. I tell you Med. is almost the perfect speed for most apps so I think this is a big plus. One thing I know will be a plus on the Deere side is the quick attach front bucket that the Kubota does not have (at least as standard specs) This would be great for use of forks, front blade etc...

Again I am sure the Deere is nice also but I love my 2620! It has exceeded all my expectations. I maintain about 5 acres and too me its the perfect size, good luck and keep us posted.

I was pretty well set on getting a JD2320 before I bought my 2620. The allure of the green and yellow was strong (as was the peer pressure from the father-in-law who has an all-JD farm), but once I checked out the Kubota I just couldn't see spending the extra $ for the colors. The three speed hydro was a major selling point for me. Mid works great for almost everything, with the occasional shift to low for heavy dirt moving and high for running around the property doing light stuff. With the JD2320, low makes for some slow mowing, and high felt like it really loaded up the hydro (heat). It didn't give me the warm fuzzies. I was really interested in the position control on the JD, but after having the Kubota for a year (rebuilding the gravel driveway and leveling the grade around my barn) I haven't missed it. In fact, I worked the 1/4 inching valve quite a bit, so I don't think position control would have done anything for me. I'm also a fan of the live PTO on the Kubota. It's all mechanical - reliable as a rock. And the quicker cycle times of the loader is a nice bonus, too.
I still occasionally think it would have been cool to have a Deere in the barn. But like I said above, I just couldn't see spending the extra money ($1,500 in my case) for a name and a color.

5 years ago I bought my first tractor. A BX2200 which I traded a year later to a B7800. NH was $2000 more and JD was $3000 more on equal Kubota both times I checked. Course my Kubota dealer does great pricing. Have been totally satisfied with Kubota to the tune of 6 different purchases in the past 5 years. Still have 3 and the B was my favorite.

The BX was far too small for me, 6'3" too.

An extra thousand or two can buy alot of implements down the road. I had a BX but ended up with a 2920. I agree with other members, the 3 speed hydro is key! While you are looking don't forget about the new B3200. It may come in close to what you are looking to spend! Good luck.

I looked at both before buying my Kubota B2620. I liked the three speed hydro, and it's quiet too, but also liked the JD. If you are thinking about front mount attachments down the road like a snowblower, or front blade, the Kubota has the best setup, and implement sized to fit the tractor better. If you want to use forks, loader mounted blade, or large snow / sawdust bucket, the 2320 has the better setup. Using the bush hog rotary cutter, I would like position control on mine, but the Kubota does have lower limit stops that can be preset using wrenches. I think the drive over decks are about equal, but the material collection systems available are definitely different, and you might want to look at those if you are planning on picking up leaves, etc. When you test drive both, pay close attention to what the front wheels are doing in a sharp turn. The JD steering geometry leans the wheels into the turn, and I suspect that results in less lawn damage in sharp turns. The Kubota wheels stay more nearly vertical, and tend to cut the turf with the outside of the front wheels easier I think. I still like the steering brakes on the JD better, and have wished they were set up that way on my Kubota a couple of times this winter. I like my Kubota, and bought it mostly because the good local dealers had tractors available, and set up the way I wanted them, and the JD dealers didn't so I couldn't try out the loaders, etc. I was dealing with some medical problems, and needed a tractor then....... Both are very good tractors.

Thanks Guys.....Yep, the BX is too small. I'd look like Frankenstein riding a battery powered Jeep. Plus the bigger the better with room. I'm starting to lean toward the Kubota. Dealer about 10mi up the road, good things have been said of him. I have exactly 5.4 acres. Looks like an obtuse triangle from the air. Center and about 3 acres have been cleared by me and a friend with a Volvo Excavator. I cut the trees, about 50, and he flipped the stumps and made 3 huge burn piles. Cost me next to nothing... $500 buck donation. He's a good friend! That was a fun night lighting them! Anyway. I just need to clean up the edges with the front end loader. I wont try to dig a stump with that. Leveling out spots in the yard, moving gravel and dirt. Nothing major. The quicker cycle times will be noticable so that is a plus. The lever to control the loader may come into play with the KB's on the side and JD on the front right. My big legs may interfere on the JD. I have a quad with a plow for the 350' asphault/concrete driveway, and unless we get the blizzard of 85'(50" of snow) I think the quad plow will work. Auto Level....Won't think I'll miss it. Box blade will come in handy leveling out spots. I'll probably get an "off" brand 48-55" tiller such as LandsPride or woods. Father in law just sold his 6' for $850 but I do not think a 26hp would turn one that big, that well. He has a 2WD Case, about 38Hp. Backhoe would be nice but I'm not going over 18-19K. Neighbor has a Bobcat with a hoe so I'll pay him for any trenchwork. Collection system...I have a 54" lawn sweeper that I pull behind the quad. It's fast and easy. I will check the tuning thing. I'm not lawn picky but I do like it to look nice. I guess R4's would be the choice over turfs? Quick attach of the loader may be a point but If it take 15-20min on the KB then so be it. Building a 24x36 metal pole barn to store it in, I really thinking color does not matter. Wife talked to a friend who has a 300 acre working farm and he said after 1year of research he bought a Fouton. No not the bed thing. I guess it is a brand of tractor. Never heard of them. I may give them a once over but KB seems to be the way to go. Just gotta find time to get to the dealer. I'll keep you posted on what happens. Keep it coming though! What about the tires?
