I'm considering purchasing a B7100 HST (as an upgrade to my 1980 gear-drive B7100).

It is advertised as a 1998 model, and has about 450 hours on it. I didn't think they made the B7100 that recently? Does anyone know?

It has a woods DuAl 145 FEL, a 60" MMM (mid mount mower), and a 48" three-point snow blower.

I already have a snowblower, and don't need the mower (I use my G1800S for mowing). How much do you all think I can get for these two items to offset the purchcase price.

Thanks,

If that was a 1998 model, I think that would be the last year. I seem to recall Bird mentioning he bought one new in 95.

I won't venture a guess as to the value of he MMM and blower.

Going back several years, I remember discussions about FEL use on this model. A counterweight is a must, since there is no power steering on the B7100.

Yes, I know that a counterweight is a must for FEL work on this, I currently have a 1980 gear drive B7100 wiht an FEL. I'll either the counterweight, or make a new one (the one I have is just a 5 gal bucket filled with concrete and a drawbar stuck through it. I'm probably going to load the tires too.

I will definitely be buying this 1998 B7100. I made the deal last night, and am picking it up tomorrow night. I will definitely sell the snowblower, as I already have one very similar, but I was wondering what everyone here thought about the deck.

It is an RC60-71B, which is a 60" deck specific to the late-model B7100 HST's. I will not need it for my property, as I have a G1800S with a 48" deck that is much better suited for my particular property, although I wouldn't rule out potentially doing some large lawn mowing for extra $$$ later.

Since there is always the potential for upgrade (like maybe trying out a BX for mowing my property and selling both the B7100, and the G1800S), do you all think I'd be better off resale-value wise to keep the deck to sell with the tractor later, or just sell the deck now.

Thanks,

Used decks seem to have very little value. I tried selling mine and I ended up trading it to the dealer for some other items.

I would just hang onto it and sell it with the tractor as having both a MMM and FEL can only help the resale value.

Concur. Probably doesn't get as much money now and 3/4 of the calls you get when you go to sell it will be "Does it have the belly mower? No? Awww, shucks...well...I'd like to have that...know of where I can get one?" And then they don't call back.

Sounds like I should keep the deck. Who knows, maybe I can find a couple of 2-5 acre properties to mow for $$$ :)

The B7100 sold very well from 1977-1983. It was replaced by the B7200 (starting in 1983), then later by the B1550 (starting in 1988) and then again by the B1700 (1995). After the B7100 was discontinued in 1983, sales of the new models (B7200, B1550 and B1700) in NA were not as good as Kubota had expected. The public kept asking dealers for the B7100. In light of lagging sales and public demand, Kubota finaly elected to re-introduce the B7100 in NA in 1991. When Kubota finally stopped selling them around 1996, it wasn't because public demand had stopped, but rather because Kubota's inventory had run dry and none were left to sell. The re-introduced B7100 can be easily distinguished from its older brother by an elegant front grill that bulges outwards, as seen in your photos.
