just bought a new to me b7100 and i am not too happy with the rear hubs. i was going to slide the hubs out for a wider stance, but the axle is a little worn and the wheels wobble pretty bad in that position. does anyone know of better rear hubs for this little Kubota? thanks for any help.

Have you considered rebuilding the worn areas using a welder?

Your Kubota dealer should be able to order a newer style hub to replace the ones you have. The old style hubs were almost impossible to keep tight.

Just put a set of the new type on my tractor.:D

Can you share the price for the hubs along with possibly the part number of the hub you used? Thanks.

My hubs were also loose when I got my tractor. I shimed them, but have notice that the shims have moved a bit, but hubs are still tight. I was thinking of rebuilding the axel with weld and grinding. My concern was this. If I weld on the axel which I'm sure is hardend, would that weaken it? It would be harder to weld the hubs where they are worn but easy to add some material to the flats on the axel. I can't really afford to get the new style hubs even though i'd like to.

Well, my little B7100 has the hubs welded to the axles! (Not by me, I hasten to add). Given the heavy work I've been doing with it, and its previous life - I'd say there might be some weakening (maybe), but the axles will hold up just fine.

I just hope the axle seals don't fail anytime soon - removing the hubs from the axles ain't going to be much fun

I will probably put a small amount of weld on the axle at the outer corners of each flat side of the axle. Keep the axle cool and not get carried away and then grind it flat. It would not take much to tighten up the slop in it. If I do I will put in some pics of how I do it. (If I don't mess it up)

thanks for all the suggestions. i will probably stay away from welding on the axles because of the possibility of cracks. the axles are probably 4130 steel or similar. the carbon content is a problem when welding because the heat affected zone can be prone to the start of cracking. i am currently trying to track down a company that produces heavy duty split steel hubs for the b7100. i will let you know what i find.
