WOW.... I am frustrated....I spent over 2 hours trying to reinstall my 60in mid mount mower yesterday. I had little problems removing it... I must say that without the FEL I do not see how anyone could get it under the tractor. I could not get the spline to line up at all. I tried with all of my strength to push the mower back and forth to try to get it lined up. No dice. I did manage to get the front hooked up and one side rear to hook up... but not the spline or the other side rear mount. Is there a trick. I saw btolle's trick with the wood under the FEL and tried it. It worked to get the mower under the tractor....but not to line things up. I remembered that the dealer said that I should choose a flat surface, so I did this on a flat piece of concrete......ANY pointers would be appreciated....Thanks /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I think you will find that you need to hook up both rear side mounts and then the front last.
As far as the pto shaft, there is usually one spline blocked off by a bead of weld, so the shaft will only go on in one position. The easiest way to move the shaft in minute amounts is to put on a pair of gloves and turn one of the blades slowly- with the tractor turned off, of course!!! You may wind up spinning the blade a few turns before the shaft finds that one point where it will line up. When you find that point, take your hands away from the blades before attempting to attach the shaft.

I called the dealer...he said there is some sort of release pin that I should see? I definitely do not see one? I do not see how anyone can get this to go on without the FEL to lift the tractor off of the ground...just not enough room..

let me know if you come up with a solution..i have a new 7510 with the 54 inch mower..after reading this, i don't think i'll take the mower off unless its a have to case.

Sorry I didn't mention that- I assumed you knew about the spring-loaded coupler--- bad on me.
There is still likely only one position where the shaft and coupler will line up and it will be necessary to slowly rotate the coupler until you find that spot.
Once it lines up and you start to slide it on, release the ring and it will snap into place when it is fully installed.

That's how I do my BX. It's easiest to connect the pto shaft without mounting pins in the way- then the rear, which must line up exactly- then the front which has a lever pull the mower into place.
One more question: Do you let the receiving part hang down when you take the mower off? I found that after I took the MMM off , dirt made its way inside of this. Do they make something to make the clearance higher so this will not occur??

Not sure what you are referring to as "receiving part"- the end of the pto shaft?? If so, after removing it from the front pto gear, I usually reinstall the two pieces of the pto shaft and tie or bungy them together.
Also- I need to correct an earlier post- the two pieces of the pto shaft only line up in one position due to a small bead welded to the male end of the shaft. The spring collar will mount to the pto gear in one of many positions as you spin it around, so you should not need to turn it far.
