Backhoe Backhoe for BX2200? Is there?

Well that pretty much depends on your design and fabrication skills. The parts for the BX22 subframe components comes to about $600.00. The main subframe connectors could be easily fabricated for about $50.00 reducing the cost to about $280.00. I built my backhoe for about $1000.00 including all the hydraulic components. Converting it to a subframe mount will bring the total cost to about $1,400.00. So for me, adding a backhoe cost significantly less than the BX22 combo. So if you have the resources to make these modifications and have experience in machine fabrication it's really not a big deal. If you don't you should get the BX22. As I stated earlier, I had made the backhoe for my old Simplicity which was a 3-point mount and the BX22 was not out at the time which is why I kept the backhoe. I used it a lot(2 years) with no structural problems. I made the 3-point hitch for the Simplicity as well.

That is a good point - anything can be made to work with enough time, money, and skill. I was just coming from the perspective of someone that doesn't have the facilities, tools, and knowhow to fabricate something like that from scratch.

I envy folks like you that know how to just make something instead of having to rely on dealers and such. I'm just not one of those people, I'm afraid...

Don't be afraid! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Start small and work your way up to bigger projects. Study the equipment you want to make, heck copying stuff is easy. But you really do need the right tools to get the job done correctly. I'm glad my dad got me started young(8 ish), had my first car when I was 11, painted my first car at 12, rebuilt my first engine at 12, and it snowballed from there. But remember you're never too old to start. It's a lot of fun to make stuff, especially stuff that works!

Kubota did bring out a backhoe for the BX2200...it's called a BX-22 and merely requires you to trade in your current machine for the new one. Worked for me!! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I'm not too scared /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif...but I don't have all the right stuff yet. Finally got an air compresser a year or so ago, so I'm painting again. Also getting back into working on cars, after many years of letting others do it for me (my '63 Chevy pickup is my big project right now). But it has been a while. No welder yet - need one. Anyway, you are absolutely right. There's nothing like whomping something up that works great and costs faaaar less - and you did it yourself.

Hey, that's why I keep coming back to this forum. Always something to learn /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif.

jrlichina ,
When you get the subframe done, please post some pictures. Also interested in the conversion you're doing from 3 pt to subframe attachment. I'm not really going to do too much with mine, just a little digging here and there. Here's a picture of our first dig. Thanks so much for all the info and advice. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

DaveMT.

Yeah I'll post some pics when I finish. I have a few other projects I'm working on now so not sure when I'll have it done. Have fun with your digger!

What you see is their "stabilizer kit" it helps keep the BH from rocking back 'n forth and moves most of the stress off the top link to the 2 stabilizer links. Those brackets on the frame are lower connection points for the stabilizer links, the other end of the stabilizer link connects at the top of the BH mounting frame. The locking bar helps stop the rotation of the BH in respect to the lower 3-point arm outboard ends. I'm surprised they don't offer a subframe mount. Perhaps they'll have one out later since it requires a more complex design.

Yes, it's a kit for mounting a Land Pride BH1560 or BH1575 to a BX2200/1800. My point was that there is a BH out there for our tractor and that some thought went into mounting it. I have not seen it mentioned on this site before. Is anyone out there using this setup?
