I called them "dog seeds" the other day and my wife looked at me like I was crazy (I'm used to it).

I thought maybe those Gila things are poisonous or something? People have them as pets? Good grannies, what will they do next? Sort of like keeping a rattlesnake or such. :confused2:

Good Evening Jim. Been looking at your comments of life near Robles Junction Hwy 86 West of Tucson.
Where you refer to Bad Day at Black Rock. and now this location as Block Rock.
Would you care to describe your location so there is a understanding why it is hot.
Unless I'm thinking different you live East of Tolono O'Odham Indian Reservation South of Saguaro Nat'l Park and Ironwood Forest Nat'l Monument Hwy 86 near the old Ajo highway.
and there is a Natural Gas pipeline close by carrying gas to the west towns.

Used to drive to a compressor station West of Buckeye and wasn't unusual for the temp to be close to 120 and in the morning the auto temp still was above the green zone.

Maybe explain the Gila Monster is a small lizard that has to chew on you for a while before any poison can get into the skin.
Jim my biggest wonder is why do you live in such a location when there is areas along a river like St. David or the Gila river. Always thought Safford was a good location to retire. Flagstaff area is good except the tourists in the summer and cold temps. in the winter.
But then it is where you reside and guess in spite of your neighbors like the area.

Were having temps close to the 100 deg. mark this year and having rain which turns to steam quickly.

Keep writing its interesting.
Out of curiosity do you remember the 1st. test of the atomic bomb west of Ora Grande N.Mex. Knew a rancher that was relocated and land never returned with almost no payment for the property.
They told another rancher that a train load of ammo exploded and not to drink any surface water.

Before I get into crabing & complaining.
It rained 2 or 3 hours last night, hoped it would really pore
Nope barley 1/2 inch.

Thinking it would be cool, took the girls & went to Indian store. it was already 75 when I left a little after 7. Not too bad with windows down & 65. By the time I got home it was well past 80. Hot breeze does not cool very much.

Gila monsters do not have fangs, teeth slope towards throat & they hold on. Does not do any good to try & pull 1 off it it bites.

Saint David was my first choice , but the place I wanted had been sold. The one other place had 2 run down houses. did not want an instant have too do project. Bought a real nice house north of Huston TX.2 very nice acres. year around stream at back property line. Good deer hunting & fishing in near by lake. About 2 miles off the freeway. Just never worked out to move there. great house. real brick, built in gun, book cabinets Fire place with fan.

Getting old & crabby ??
People talk real fast are very irritating . High pitched squeaky are next.
Then it' what I call mush mouths are in there as well. They sort of mumble their way through what ever they are saying & often the last word or 2 just fades out.

Still trying to get refund Amazon, different story from everyone talk to.

Ken, there is a high pressure gas line near Ajo Hwy. Buried real deep, just has signs saying its there.

Thanks for all the post & encouragement.

Jim

Yeah the 'like' button has been suggested before for TBN. I like the concept. I also kind of like the dislike (thumbs down) button some blogs have. Nice way to gauge agreement/disagreement with posts with not having to comment. I imagine some interesting stats could be generated as well.

Absolutely.

I found this thread the day I came to TBN. It is a thread I look forward to with my coffee in the morning.

BTW, did the water in a jar trick work for you for peeling eggs?

I have used it a lot and shared with several of my friends. What a novel idea.

I read this thread every time there is a new post. I love the old tales and dry humor.

Another rant

Don't think I will ever buy anything from Amazon.
Over a dozen ph calls, going on for over a week & at last ups will pick up the TV. Cost me $10.45 Amazon says they will give that $$ back. hope so. Supposed to be picked up today. Packed up & sitting by gate. Amazon blames FEX & they blame Amazon. Week or so for it to get there & another week or so to send bank refund.
OH well life goes on.

Should get TV from wally world today & Window AC next day. Sure need the AC.

Bugs
Biggest miller / moth I have ever seen was in the bedroom. Bigger than any Butter fly.
In Brown canyon I remember 2 bugs. A walking stick Looks exactly like a dead twig about 6 inches log
Another bug with a fuzzy red tail called a cow killer. don't think it would hurt a cow if it ate one.
Tombstone. Praying mantis. Vinegar groan, Often called a whip tail scorpion
all places had scorpions & at the WJ'S huge centipedes. About u to 10" long. real bright colors.
Don't remember flies any of those places

Mutts.
Bony had a real problem. Sprayed chit all over the place. Was mad at her until I realize she could not help it.
Not going to mention personal problems. But I bough several pair of under shorts.

Later
Jim

Sorry to hear your struggles with Amazon. I am a Prime member (free two day shipping) and have never had any issues with lots of purchases. Now where is the wood to knock on?

At last a real rain. Almost 2 inches. Not the gully washer I would like to see.

Defective TV was out to be picked up. Box now really soft. Have to wait for it dry out before I can take it to the PO>

Found a quail nest, it was n the ground as I always suspected. About a dozen speckled eggs in it.

New TV works good, took a little fiddling but real nice picture & sound. Some sort of strange things. Chiannel 95 is there, but does not show up on menu .??

Bugs. got over a dozen off bony this am, not there yesterday. Bobby lots & lots, seems like they are hatching on her.
Some so tiny they can hardly be seen.

Really need to get a good nights sleep. Wake up every hour of sooner Itches pain or bathroom.

Was going to post a picture but could not find it.

grandad was quite a character I'm not to fire you, but give you a six month vacation twice a year.
I was about the only gringo invited to Mexican parties. They celebrate every thing, birth, death holidays & so on.

Going to go to bed for a while & try to sleep.
Ear noise pretty much goes away in left ear for a while. Depends on stress level. Right ear stays much the same, different sound. Actually heard a ringing sound, didn't last long. Main reason for leaving TV on. So i can hear something other than my ears.

In a much better mood.
