They had almost 50,000 preorders within the first 48 hours. Still trying to decide if I want to preorder or just wait until they hit the lots. Either way it may be a couple years before regular folks can walk in and buy one.

Ford has a way to go to catch up with Tesla

the Cybertruck preorders exceeded one million 2 days ago, and it looks like deliveries will start before years end.

I do think Ford has done a Good job on the new F 150 Lightning, Good Looking conventional truck and even the base model is all wheel drive -Lots of new handy features for a guy working in an area where the work is within the trucks daily at home charging range.

ps. out of the newest electrics coming out , must admit I am enamored with the new Ionic 5 with the larger battery and all wheel drive.

I love what Tesla is doing but I’m not sure I‘m liking the spaceship looks of that Cybertruck. I’m sure they’ll sell all they can make though.

It kind of grows on some people over time. But when you realize it is a prototype to be used on Mars a lot of it makes more sense. The Ford truck owner's video help me make more sense of the system for earthly use.

Looks like it would fit right in on Mars. I was told it looks a lot better in person so I guess I’ll have to keep an open mind until I can actually see one.

Hydrogen only pencils out as a fuel if the electricity to make it is almost free. I think it is promising as a storage medium for a large (100 mw or larger) solar installation. That removes the transportation and much of the compression expense, while the hydrogen could be fed into a turbine generator when the sun doesn't shine. If they want to go ultra efficient they could run compressed gas and turbine exhaust through a heat exchanger to run a low temp turbine, but with ultra cheap electricity that might not pay.

The big drawback in my mind to hydrogen cars is the image of some stoned drunk soccer mom trying to self-serve 3000 psi compressed hydrogen into her car full of kids. Hydrogen infrastructure ends with somebody's hand on the nozzle.
