Ford is going the Tesla Way on EV sales to cut out price gouging.
But no matter how much Leftists say, you can not “price gouge” because there is no such thing. A thing is either worth the price you hand over, or you do not hand over the price.

$10-$20/gallon gasoline after a hurricane is the best way to get gasoline to those in need and flood the market with supply to bring prices down.

Just watched a YT video concerning Navistar and their newest Class 6 commercial trucks. The Cummins diesel version has a 400 mile range on one fill and base retail is is 80 grand. The all electric version has a 130 mile range, takes 90 minutes to recharge and base retail is 130 grand. I don't think so.
What’s the total cost of ownership over the life of both trucks?

But back to thermodynamics: if you had unlimited cheap energy then you would still be putting 3x the heat into the environment by creating H2 vs simple reversible chemical reaction of charging a lithium battery.

H2 only solves the imagined problems of of the ruling class in keeping the ruling class in power.
If you are talking solar, wind, or hydro you are pulling heat out of the environment and repurposing it to make hydrogen, so it's a push. There may be local effects, but globally there would be none.

Never met a monopoly you didn't like?

Here is a new statement by Tesla and Elon about energy production and use.

Tesla solar panels (all years built and energy produced) was in excess of all Kilowatts used in manufacturing them and charging over 3,000,000 Tesla vehicles total power use.

Net positive Solar energy production. WoW

So the EV could be the lower net cost choice for some perhaps.
Maybe. maybe not. All depends on the vocational use and to attain the limited range, Navistar recommend leaving the motor in regenerative braking all the time.

So you own a Leaf. That is limited range as well. One of my friends works at Nissan in Rochester Hills, Michigan and drives the larger EV back and forth to work but, Nisaan covers his recharges every day.

The only way I'd ever consider one would be a hybrid like a Prius.

Not a clue. Never alluded to that.
That’s one of the major selling points of commercial EV use. Initial cost is higher, but maintenance and fuel costs are much lower. Overall return on investment on the piece of EV equipment is supposed to be much faster with the EV VS ICE.
