Realistically, it's all about the environment that it's used in (sorry to end my sentence with a preposition, but right now it's easier to provide an excuse than restructure the sentence...). If you have a small forklift and use it to load railcars, yes, we have no paint on our rear ends. I'd have to take a closer look but pretty sure that neither of our lifts (one bought new about 10 years ago, the other bought used about 15 years ago) are missing much paint anywhere. But we have pretty wide open spaces and our drivers are very careful.
