Big Boar! Tractor was Useful During Hunting Season

Have had a large sounder of hogs haunting my wild game feeder and dominating the entire area, so I've been needing to dissuade them, and send them to find another ranch besides mine.

They have been at it awhile, keeping deer, turkey and ducks, etc. away. (Not the raccoons though... they seem unfazed)

At times this huge grizzled old boar was with them. Been seeing him off and on.

Could days ago I went out before dark with my .308 and thermal scope.

They didn't even wait until full dark. That boar was with them, and kinda stood out from the other hogs by his size...

Took 2 shots from the .308 to put him down for the count.

My dog, Baxter LOVES to go hunting with me, and I let him have his fun! He's Very good at tracking and at 2 1/2 years old, he has lots of hunts to go on with me. Baxter is a giant schnauzer and weighs about 130lbs.

Lastly, I used the tractor to hang the boar and take him out back to his final resting spot. (You knew there had to be a tractor involved, right?)
Tractors come in handy during hunting season!

I know some of you guys use your tractors to carry or hang game when hunting. Please feel free to show us how you use your tractor in hunting season!

He was very rank and smelled horrible, and had several open festering wounds from fighting with other boars.

I generally don't eat many wild hogs. One reason is that if I took time to butcher all the hogs we get, we'd have no time to hunt. Farmers get us to hunt their fields before and after they plant, and we stalk at night with thermals and AR rifles. Sometimes we get over 30 hogs a night.

If I were to eat one, it'd be a younger hog.

40-80 lbs is the sweet spot. Or if you trap them, 40 lbs, and feed them a bag of hog feed or two, and then process. It's not that bigger hogs aren't eaten too, but some people can't get over the smell. If you clean, cool on ice, and then smoke or slow cook, they are fine. Sausage is also always an option.

Thanks for the information on the wild pig meat.
We don't have wild pigs here, but domestic farm raised pork is sold locally here by the butcher shops.
Never tasted wild pig but live on deer meat mostly.

I would not eat anything that eats garbage and
I seen the inside of a pig it was full of green grubs and in order to kill all the little worms in
them they would have to be like charcoal burnt
to a crisp. In the summer time when it nice and hot toss a pork chop on the side walk and watch all the little worms come crawling out

What are you using for your rifle, thermal and suppressor? I use a POF Revolution AR in .308, Pulsar Thermion Pro XP50 thermal and a DeadAir Nomad 30 suppressor. It's been the perfect setup for pigs.

Just a basic setup, Diamondback DB10 in .308, Witt Machine muzzle device, Bering Super Hogster thermal.

I setup and sighted in one of those Pulsar's on my brother's rifle. Nice!
