I am buying a tc40d with 16la, and the dealer has this other one on the lot that a guy made a bucket for. I guess he took the hd 16la bucket and added onto it, then put 3 hooks on it. My dealer says I can have this bucket instead of the new one, and I am thinking about it. Looks like the guy did a good job, and I would love the extra capacity for bark, sawdust, etc. Plus, I would get the hooks.

I've included a picture to see the two. Opinions? Thanks.

I can't tell you how many times I wish I had a bigger capacity bucket. Plus, it's free? That's pretty sweet. Add a toothbar and you are really livin'!

markie61,

Just what is the QT bucket? Is that quick attach? How is it used, and is it cool? From these pics, this rig doesn't have it, right?

Thanks.

that looks like a standard duty vs. heavy duty bucket to me. I've got a heavy duty on my 16la and it's spttin' image of the top picture.

QT=quick-tach. Sorry, using TBN shorthand /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif.
I knew I would be using pallet forks as much as my bucket. You can change them by pulling the pins, but it takes too long. The QT plate with the QT bucket and QT forks makes a change in less than 30 seconds, including getting off the tractor twice to pull then push the levers. Highly recommended. Neither one of these picture show a QT plate, which would be pinned on where the bucket is pinned on in the pics. Get a demonstration so you can see what you would be missing.

Crap, the dealer had assured me it is a HD bucket. Are you sure? So far this guy has been good, hard to believe he would misinform me about that.

I don't understand why you are not happy. You can get the HD bucket for nodda, thats cool. If the dealer stated that it is the HD bucket then he is shooting stright.

higgy,

I was replying to Mike who said he thought the modified bucket looked like a standard duty, and the one I would be giving up was a heavy duty. IF the modified bucket is heavy duty, then heck yes, I would be happy getting the modified one /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

But I don't know much about welding and fabrication, and am looking for opinions about whether or not this bucket looks to be worth giving up the factory bucket.

Bobby

P.S. I have looked at both up close, and unless there is a very obvious difference between standard and HD, they both looked to be made of the same thickness steel. I THINK the guy just added to the top of a HD bucket.

I strongly agree with Mike. Your modified bucket sure looks like my, dealer supplied, heavy duty bucket.
I was told at the time of purchase that the HD bucket they were providing with the sale was a "Woods" I haven't seen or looked for any markings to prove or disprove that. What I do know is that it is one heavy A$$ piece of steel.

Jeez, now I see it. Thanks for the pic. I was thinking of it backwards. So the 16LA bucket that is black in my picture is standard duty, and the gray one is heavy duty? That would make sense, except the gray one doesn't have a spec of black on it. It also looks kind of home fabbed, if you look at the brackets that attach the bucket itself to the loader. Hmm...
