Bobcat CT225
Recently purchased a bobcat ct225 in a non running condition. The owner had passed away and the tractor hadn’t been moved in a few years. The starter was not installed and the battery cables were reversed as well as the 60amp inline fuse was blown. I studied every thread on here and I’m completely lost still. Here is what I have done so far to the tractor
New battery and cables. Sanded down the frame and have a nice clean ground.
Brand new starter and ignition switch from bobcat.
replaced every relay from the lights up front to the three on the firewall as well as the relay the ignition plugs into.
Cleaned every “safety” switch on the tractor, I.e foot pedal, seat switch and a to be honest haven’t found the one near the pto but I checked every wire near the operating control unit and all wires seem to be connected tight and no frayed wires. Replaced every fuse in the fuse box as well as the 60 amp in ground fuse. I still have 12.6 at the battery and starter and nothing anywhere else. I do not know where to go from here. Can anybody point me in the right direction? I do have the shop manual and operators manual and have spent hours reading everything I can.

Welcome to TBN from Missouri.

I hate all things electrical in a tractor.

So, when you turn the key on you get nothing - no dash lights, no clicking trying to start no anything?

Have you tried to jump start using a car or charger? I think I’d try that to see if you get power.

You did all I would do on the battery terminals and connection to the tractor.

It sounds to me like the ignition switch.

After that, possibly somehow the PTO is engaged (or the tractor thinks the PTO is engaged) which will prohibit starting.

Good luck.

Ok I would like to add one bit of information. The bucket is tilted and in the ground and it is slightly on a hill. I am unable to shift from low to high. I can shift into neutral but i can’t make it go into any other gears...basically it is completely forward and I can’t shift it all the way back. Would the tractor somehow have had the brakes froze and it is still locked in gear and not in neutral! I’ve never read about that issue anywhere. I ordered a brand new ignition from bobcat so I’m going to rule that out. The tractor looks very lightly used and obviously the previous owner had an issue and passed on without telling anybody what happens. I get absolutely nothing when I turn the key. No lights, clicks anything. I can jump it at the starter but it won’t engage anything else. The pto seems to operate very smoothly between engaged and not engaged. I spent about an hour because I read somewhere that there is little room for error on the location of the pto switch and allowing the tractor to start. I guess I’m most puzzled as I have no lights or anything. I assumed I would at least have lights but wouldn’t be able to start the tractor. I’m in it very cheap for everything that was included (less than 3500 with hardly used backhoe and dr chipper 19hp chipper attachment) but would love to be able to use it. It does not have the mid pto option. The tractor sets about 30 min from my house so I have to work on it on the weekends when I have the time. I might try the cables and a jump next time to see if there is more hope.

You need to trace power from battery to each place it "lands" till it loops through ignition switch to starter and so on, ELECTRICAL diagram is must....

Two methods of trouble shooting and both require electrical diagram, one is start where you have 12 volts (at battery) and trace it forward to ignition switch and so on till you loose it, problem will be between where you last had it and where it does not appear...., OR start where you think it should be, and work backwards towards battery problem will be between where it last point it was not and where you find it.... This is where you learn to read electrical schematic's.

This is my favorite tool to trouble shooting non computer systems...

Just randomly (systematically) replacing parts in hoping to replace bad part is parts department best solution as it only empty's your pocket and fills dealers cash register....
