Thanks gentlemen. I think 1000 pounder would be overkill (although, I typically like overkill). I do have two rear remotes, and as I have been learning more I have been leaning toward getting a hydraulic top link. I want to have more seat time before making that move. I have only been able to put 8 hours on it so far (I travel 6.78 trillion miles a year............).

I think this is very smart of you. With a manual top link you will really learn what the adjustments do with whatever BB you end up with. You will understand what you want, how much travel you need, and how often you will adjust it. This will help in picking the hyd top link and deciding about check valves.
Just don't make the mistake of leaving the manual top link in one spot. Get off the tractor and change things to learn what happens under different conditions of use. Depending on how you use your BB you may conclude a hydraulic top link is a "nice to have" or you may conclude it is a "absolute necessity".

Very good advice. I consider a hydraulic top link indispensable and my brothers put it in the "meh" category; no real interest.

That is my thought process exactly. I have to mess with things and understand them better before I go 'improving' them with my wallet.

Mine is 66" wide and just under 1000#. I wish it was heavier in straight scraping operations on hard ground.

It's only overkill if you are working fluffy or sandy soils with no roots or rocks. Otherwise, the weight tells you how strong it is and how reliable and long lasting it will be. Many (if not most) of the cheap boxes are bent like pretzels pretty quick when they snag a big root or buried rock.
