Grading Box Blade pins too wide or lower arms too short?

I have a YM 2000B. My bush hog and carryall all fit great, but I just bought a box blade and the spread of the lower arms (24") puts them into the tires. The guy I bought it from was using a YM1700 and it fit fine. His arms spread was 30". I can't turn the pins in (like I did for the carryall). I also can't turn the tires out because I need the narrow width to get between trees. Can you replace just the lower arms with longer ones? Or do you have to replace the uppers too? Where is a good source and what length should I get? Thanks in advance, I always get great help here, and I'm new to the tractor world.

I have a ym2000 i had to turn my pins to inside on my box blade i use a 4' blade. fixed my problem arms no longer hit my tires.

I can supply you with longer arms to install on your tractor. There a couple ways to determine the lenghth of the arms. One way is to subtract the distance between the lower pins & divide by two. Then measure the angle between a line going from the lowerpin to the wheel & a line going straight back from the pin. Using trig functions & these two measurements you can determine the length of the arms. Or Park the box blade behind the tractor & push the tractor ahead until you can stretch a string between the tractor pin & box pin without touching the tire.

Had the same problem on my YM1610D for some implements. I switched the rear tires and rims side to side and it gave me more room between the rear tires and a little more stability.

On my 1700, I thre away ( not really.. they are hanging in the barn ) the minscule lift arms it came with, and bought a set from tractor supply.. they are fairly generic cat 1 arms.. like the old fords used. Using those, my ym1700 has no problem with pin spacing. I also turned my tires/rims out/swapped sides.

I have 1 implement with pins on the inside.. etc... the rest are normal.

You say you can't turn the pins?? I presume they are welded in?? If they are, cut them off and grind the weld flush with the metal. Go to TSC or a supply store and get new pins. They are cheap. Quite a bit cheaper than new lift arms.

I don't know what your lift arms look like but some of the grays came from Japan with a tiller and did not have regular 3 point lift arms and sometimes the dealer fit them with fairly straight lift arms. The factory lift arms on my 186d have a lot of S shape so they bend around the tires. There are guys here who sell shaped lift arms which might help you.

Buy a box blade that is made so you can turn the pins looking in. All of our 4' box blades are made so you can turn the pins in or out. If you use longer lift arms it will make the front end lighter and may also affect the PTO shaft length on your other implements.

For what its worth.. those longer lift arms worked like a dream on my 1700.. his 2000 is a similar sized/frame / machine... but its his nickle..

If you get longer lift arms you will most likely be opening a whole new can of worms with pto shaft length, extra weight, etc. Assuming you have standard 2000B lift arms they should work if sway chains are set properly. Standard cat 1 3ph lift arm spacing is 26". Rather than change everything to accomodate a used boxblade I would get one that you can reverse the pins on, and for safety reasons I would reverse those wheels and "make other arrangements" for the trees. They were built that narrow so they will fit on a Japanese pickup truck bed.
