Tractor
Kubota L2400
Hi,
I am a returning member from a long time ago and need some advice on a tractor purchase. When I was a forum member last time, I had a small farm (13 acres) with horses. I purchased a new Kubota L2800 HST 4x4. It was a great tractor, and I kick myself for selling it, but life happens, and choices are made.

Now I live on 2 acres that is 90% clear. I don't think I need anything as big as my old Kubota but want to make sure I size it right.
Here is what it will be used for:
  • Grading for concrete projects.
  • Moving mulch, dirt, rock, etc.
  • Tilling a garden probably less than a quarter acre.
  • General landscaping.
  • Posthole digging
My Terraine is a mix of hill but nothing steep and flat. I have been looking at the Kubota BX line of compact tractors they seem to be pretty reasonably priced and have the implements I would need. That said, what would you all recommend as for brand, size and price. I really want to stay under 20k.

There are Kubota, New Holland and Mahindra dealers near me.

Thanks
Wade

I lean toward Kubota because I love mine. My neighbor got an LS (they make New Holland) due to the price. It's pretty much up to you. In any case go 25 horsepower or less and avoid the computerized pollution eliminating stuff to keep your tractor simple. My L2501 seems perfect for my ten acres.

I beat up my Kubota pretty good and it never let me down the 10 years I had it. I am leaning that way again. Thanks!(y)

Given your dealers I'd lean Kubota or New Holland; one of the positives of New Holland is that while LS is the OEM of their compact machines, they seem to get priority part support over LS dealers.

Kubota speaks for themselves, but it's always worth looking at different brands.

I would probably lean towards the “B” series Kubota vs BX. I had a BX and great little tractor but problem was to little with too small tires for effective dirt moving capability reason I have a B series size machine today.

I would sit on and operate both and let my gut then decide.
