I have a WR Long root grapple and a WR Long 3rd function control valve (on the joystick knob).

I was clearing some old timber slash and a cedar came straight back and hit the line. I got it out, but after a few uses, the crimp connector where the line connects to the FEL for the quick disconnect mounts.

My question is two fold. #1 can I just cut ti off and get a new one crimped on? #2 what type of fluid do I need to refull the WR Long 3rd function control valve with?

Thanks in advance and Be well!
David

David, yes you can take the hose in and get the end replaced. Not that big of a deal. No special fluid for the Long valve. Just the same hytrans fluid that you would use for your tranny-hydraulic system. Unless you lost a lot of fluid, you may not even need to worry about adding any at this time. The WR Long valve is just part of your hydraulic system and uses the same fluid as the rest of the tractor. ;)

A lot of hydraulic shops will not mix/match different brands on hoses and connectors for warranty and safety reasons. Best to take the hose and the broken off piece to a local shop and see what they say.

David, Just a thought, if it was mine, I would get (2) 90 degree fittings to connect from those hoses to the coupler fittings so the hoses angle down behind the lift arm frame then use some heavy duty zip ties to tie the hoses to the frame. This would help to keep brush from hooking on the hose and breaking them.

How long is it? Pull it off and take it to Tractor Suppy and get a new hose.

SSdoxie,

I will look into that. THAT is a GOOD idea...

I was trying to think of how to fab protection for this link, because I've got some nasty crap I bought this tractor to handle, and I can be replacing hyd hose every 5 hours!

Thanks,

David

David, breaking it didn't take too long :D. I would go to a hydraulic shop with the parts... Do you know if TSC sells JIC, NPT, SAE or GKW (God Knows What ;)) threaded ends. I've been there and it's confusing. Do you know what threads you have on each end of the hose now?

David, maybe cause you thought why replace the whole hose when you just need a new fitting and as long as you have enough length(the new fitting will shorten it up some although putting 90's in will give a little of that back). You might want to do one 90 and one 45 so you route them together or at least add a short nipple to one so you can route them side by side.

One of the things I was not impressed with as I got into tractoring was the lack of protection they gave hydraulic hoses. I have put rubberwrap (strips of old tire innertube) and chafing gear (old fire hose works great) in several places on mine.

We always keep a bunch of the old style clamp together fittings on the boat so we can quickly repair a hose and keep on fishing.
