My 7 year old L3830HT has a problem with reading incorrectly the amount of remaining fuel in the tank. It reads 2-3 bars below the amount that is actually there. The gauge has 8 bars when full normally. I filled it up yesterday and t only shows 5. I went to Kubota's schematic drawings thinking that maybe it has a float in the tank to determine the level, but I did not see one indicated. Anyone have an idea how it works? Is it fixable or should I just live with as I have been? Otherwise it has been a great tractor. I am getting ready to do my 600hr service. Thanks fo any input - Mike

There is a Float in the tank... to give an accurate reading it requires a Good ground, check that first. you will find the wiring On the fuel tank, insure that connections are clean and tight.
If it has a good ground (Both ends) & good sender wire connection... the float is on a wire that swings inside the tank, that wire may be bent, you can remove the assembly and recalibrate it by bending that wire to give it more travel. KennyV

Have L3130GST. You will probably find a lot of corrosion on the support arm and on mine I had a loose connection on the ceramic board the wiper is on. fixed once and doing the same again, have new one in garage waiting to be installed when the weather is good and I am tired of the thing screwing up. I just top off tank at the end of every day to keep from running out.

my L3130 does the same thing--going to try what kennyV said to do--thanks

Yep, mine is acting up also. I have almost 1,400 hours on my '06 L3830GST and will replace the sending unit in the tank sometime this winter. It's one of those "round toits".:D It's not a big deal since I refill the fuel tank after each day's use.

We use a stick to see how much fuel is in our old L3750...

My gauge is really wacky when I first start my l4740. Sometimes intermittent throughout the day as well. It show no fuel then a half tank and is up and down like a yoyo. No a good feeling when you are far in the woods

Follow-up
I ended up replacing the entire sending unit which is a float device that sits in the tank. It enters the tank from the top and is secured by 5 small nuts and a rubber gasket. It cost me 67$ plus shipping and tax. Works really well now! The support metal piece had a lot of corrosion on it, but tractor is 8 years old with 600 hrs on it. Mike

8 Years & 600 ours is nothing... there is No reason that should have failed with corrosion. I have seen fuel tank sending units that were Over 50 years old... Never any problems.
