Tractor
Branson / 5220c
Good morning....
I have a 2013, 5220c. Branson tractor .....around 120 hours on it....it is/ has been a great tractor .....but...
Recently when using it,....it starts to take on a burnt clutch ( example) smell. Everything seems to work just find, it just smells like "clutches smoking".

Any ideas it thoughts of what I can check

Thanks

John

You could check to see if your glow plugs are active for too long. You could be smelling overheated wiring.

Thanks for the response....
I'm not Sure I know what you are saying about the glow plugs being " on" to long.

How do I check this?

What wires to I check for over heating?

I'm pretty mechanical...just not to familiar with diesel motors

Thanks

Page 7-16 of my owner's manual says to adjust the pedal to .1 to 1.4" of free play using the stopper bolt and cable. Except in the pic it says .1 to .14". Not that useful.

No pic of where those adjusters are. 0.1 is very little. I'd err on the large side. An inch is more like what I'd aim for.

The shop manual may have better info. Maybe one of the guys from dealerships who post here will know.

Or you could try emailing daves' tractor in red bluff CA and asking them.

Thank you...

.100-.140 would be about 1/8"..... .140 would be a little more.

I'll check to see what kind of free play I have

Thanks again

I suggest that pedal free-play might best be 25-35mm AKA 1-1.4"

That's not a lot for a linkage with 4-6" of travel and for operation by foot. :)

Cars/trucks aren't that different if you've had many manual transmissions. (more affordable in the '70s)
