2023 Mahindra 5155
I have a 2023 Mahindra 5155 with FEL, Grapple, Bucket and box blade. Now I am shopping for a bush hog / pto style mower, for brush and other areas around my property that my Gravely ZT HD can't handle.

Needs to be fairly robust, but no need for a forestry mower.

What would you all suggest me look at?

I almost bought the Mahindra branded bush hog style mower, but now I'm glad I waited. Looking forward to your recommendations.

Thanks!

Lots to consider, what are going to be cutting - grassy fields or reclaiming areas overgrown with saplings & brush? How many acres? Open fields or woods? How wide to you have your rear wheels set? These will guide you to a heavy/medium/light duty cutter and what size.

Anyway, I have a 5055 and run a 7' Woods Cadet. It has been good for heavy brush and general mowing in open areas. I don't cut trails in the woods with it and don't think that would be it's best use due to it's size. I've read that most recommend if you want bigger than 6' you should got to a dual spindle cutter, which are normally at least 8' and a bit more money. When I was buying, 6' cutters were rare and this 7' came up at a very good price. My tractor handles its very well, it fits my needs as most of my cutting is open fields, and I have a smaller tractor that I'll run a 4' cutter on for more confined areas or trails. Good Luck.

I am on the SOLD agenda at my dealer for 23 Yanmar YM347A; grapple, shredder. I researched the 72” shredders and have concerns with the lighter ones tackling the mesquite/brush on my place. I chose the Bush-Whacker HD72. It is supposed to eat up to 3”, so while I won’t do that, it is a heavy shredder which includes a ring underneath to keep bent blades from coming up through the deck or bending the deck.

I have a Mahindra 4510 MFWD 45 horsepower tractor. I do not know how that compares to yours but I have an old township Bush Hog brand 6 foot rotary mower. It will cut 2 inch saplings or more if alone but if several close together it would bog and tax the tractor. Grass is really not an issue unless very thick and high and maybe a bit wet.

I have a Mahindra branded 8’ dual spindle. Made by Kodiak. Works well unless it’s super heavy tall grass.

the dealer told me that i can use up to a light 12' on the 5145, the 5155 should handle a 12' (if you need one that big) with ease

My 5155 is pulling a Tractor Supply "County Line" branded, 6' rotary cutter, as stated in this thread. It has plenty of power for that cutter, and it breaks shear pins like candy!
