I did not have much luck with the search feature, can you tell me about the quality, efficiency, of the Bush Hog PT5 sickle bar mower. I have quite a bit of road bank and ditch line that I currently hand clear with commercial grade string trimmers. Getting a little too old and lazy, I guess.

Here's what I could find on their web site, FWIW, as a place to start. There's not too much info, except in the right hand column. They're a good company with well made products, in my experience, with their reputation.
Hope this helps.

I reckon I may have to report back with result if I buy one.

Seems like there is a most recent version out the past couple of years from what the web details showed.
How much use do you think you will have for the sickle bar? Try Messicks for price/availability. Would be very interested to hear what you find out, especially if you buy one. I think you may find unless you plan on using it A LOT it may be a pretty pricey limited uses attachment, IMHO.

One dealer just gave me a "ball park" quote of $9,000.00! I reckon I will stay in good physical condition using that big Stihl trimmer.

Another dealership, the one that recommended the PT5 for my ditches, has yet to report back with a quote; but did contact me to apologize for the delay. I was told that the Bush Hog company had changed ownership and that he had not gotten a response from them yet with the details. I will report. Hope they are not BSing me. My impression is that they are good people.

I doubt they are making up the new ownership; and I doubt there will be a significant price difference.

Look at a IH model 1300 balanced head mower. I pull one behind a little John Deere 750 on fairly hilly ground without problems.

Modified mine with a hydraulic cylinder for more than factory lift angles.
