over this past winter, i have been skidding firewood out of woods with my b7800 and fransgard winch, getting ready for the next firewood season. just figured i would share with everyone what these little tractors and 3ph winches are capable of. all what is in the pictures was done since dec 2012, and just part time (2 - 3 hours in mornings before my other full time job, which is working for the state transportation dept.) most lengths of logs exceede 25ft long. i estimate, once blocked up and split, there is around 60 face cord total so far. (stack 4ft high, 8ft long, and cut 16" in length) the tractor is a 30hp and weighs around 3200lbs with loader and winch on. winch is a fransgard v 3407, 7000lb+ pulling power. it is my favorite piece of equipment to use.

Next comes the sawing , splitting and sawing > that nice clearing will jump a foot in height just from the saw dust and chips lol

i started this morning at 6:30 am and worked until it thawed out and started getting muddy again around 1:00 pm. the trip to where i was working on the hill today is about 3/4 mile if you follow the roads. probably 1/8 mile in a straight line from the landing. been working this site for 3 years now and some areas are very steep. i have been lucky with the weather this year, not too much snow and stayed froze just enough. i am not on the very steep roads during the winter. some roads are pretty steep! the ladder chains on the tires aren't the greatest for r-4 tire tread, but have gotten me where i need to go.
