Buying BX2680 and need advice

Hello Everyone,

After a lot of research here and on youtube, I'm buying a BX2680. I've been talking with two Kubota dealers (one near my 11 acre property and one near where I live and work.) I'm used to negotiating a lot when buying vehicles and was wondering if you can also negotiate when buying tractors? Does buying at end of month matter or any other time? HOw much should I be paying for a BX2680 with a front loader and a rear mower? Thank you in advance for your insight!

Few here would recommend a 1,700 pound bare weight BX tractor for more than three acres.

Most recommendations for eleven acres would fall between 2,700 pounds and 3,600 pounds bare tractor weight. (L2501/L3301/L3901, L3560, MX5000.)

A BX with 9" of ground clearance is limited in what it can accomplish over uneven ground. You can only cultivate crops with a BX until they reach 9" tall. L2501/L3301/L3901, L3560, MX5000 have 12" to 14" ground clearance.

However, you know your conditions. I do not.

Kubota tractors ship out of Georgia, which has been hard hit by Covid-19 Kubota factory closures. Most dealers have orders in hand waiting for uncertain factory supply. Very few "deals" out there. Maybe 5% off MSRP, which you can calculate via subset Kubota USA web site called "BUILD YOUR KUBOTA". Maybe MSRP.

What Jeff said, but in addition do you plan to use the BX with a belly mower to mow your lawn as well as a pull behind rotary to mow your field? Although the BX may have the power to turn a five foot brush hod type mower it will not have the weight to handle it well. Think of the tail wagging the dog. I don't mow my yard with my tractor. I have a L2501 with a five foot mower for mowing about ten acres of field. It works great and I don't think it was much more expensive than the BX would have been.

Based on your comment that you have done alot of research, you must be happy and very sure that a BX2680 subcompact is sufficient for your 11 acre property.

Right now you need to visit those kubota dealers nearest you, and talk to them, and see what the inventory is like. I just purchased a kubota GR2120, and the manager said his inventory was limited and he cannot acquire inventory from any nearby dealers. So i would visit multiple kubota dealers. Factory orders are significantly delayed. So its a seller's market for tractors right now. You may recieve a 5% discount from Kubota for cash. Any financing at 0% must be done at MRSP and you need to pay insurance over life of the financing.

Looking at used tractors, asking prices are incredibly high and and few are willing to come down on the prices. Also recommend you update your profile to show exactly where you live, because members can provide specific advise base on location and terrain.

I own a BX2370 and a B2650. The rear mower (finish or brush), If brush - the BX has an unprotected hydro-cooling fan under the tractor. BXexpanded sells an under armor plate to protect fan. The larger Bxx01 series has a 3 range transmission and a true postional 3 point hitch control. Very useful for 11 acres and future implement needs. The larger frame Bxx50's were replaced by the LX models.

I use my BX for mowing, roto-tilling and minor dirt work. The B is my everyday work horse. If I need to lift pallets with 1 ton loads or backhoe work I use an old 70's era Ford.

Hello, on the 11 acres, l only mow a 1/4-acre and a few trails for access to a creek and to the river. The rest of the property is wooded and under a cattle lease and want to keep it mostly native. I want the bx2680 to make and maintain a few more trails, move some dirt around here and there, projects, etc. I see myself occasionally needing a backhoe as I do my own electrical work and plan to do a septic system down the road. My budget is about 15K. I can go a little more but would rather not. Thanks! My property is near Smithville Texas.

Only you can determine if a BH is a necessity. For me I seldom use the one I have, renting a mini excavator when needed may be cheaper in the long run. Besides the unprotected fan when driving over brush, do you realize the 3pt hitch has to be removed t0 install backhoe? It will need to be reattached for the rear mower. Whatever model/brand you select get the ssqa quick attach on the loader.

Your dealer can advise you better, personally I don't know if the frame assembly comes with backhoe or if it can be ordered and added to the BX2680
When dealer gets these smaller tractors, it's some assembly required.

I agree from your descriptions of your property, a BX family tractor is sufficiently appropriate. But your backhoe needs push you into the 23s, a really fine and very reliable BX tractor, to which a backhoe is a natural attachment....when you need it. Your 15k budget is too low for both the BX2680 and BX23s. And don't forget attachments. Kubota has 0% financing for awhile at least, using the Kubota financial credit services. Talk to several dealers.
