Rock,

One other question for you, does your deck chute cover rest well on the boot? They have that small bracket that it is supposed to rest on, but I dont' see that working well, my chute cover kinda pushes it down and rests on the catcher duct. I figure over time it will wear a hole in it.

Surfran,

Answers to you questions:

The shear pin is simply a 1-3/4" 1/4-20 hex head machine screw and locking nut. I know that machine screws can vary a great deal in shear strength, but I got what looks like an equvalent.

As you can see from my picture attached to my 4/14/03 09:34PM post, the deck deflector rests very nicely on the metal bracket attached to the boot.

rock,

Thanks again for the information. It almost looks like your bracket on the boot goes under the lip of the shoot deflector. Is that the case? Mine does not so maybe that is why mine seems to move it out and let it lower. Oh well I will probably rig something up to pin it up while using bagger so I don't have to worry about it.

As for sheer bolt, I wasn't sure as the manual calls it a sheer bolt in the installation portion, but then only refers to it as a 1/4-20 1 1/2" bolt in the parts call out.

Thanks for the clarification. Did you get new ones before you sheered your first so you had something to compare to? Obviously I did not......... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

surfran,

Attached are 1000 words for you on how the deflector is propped up by the boot bracket. I must say again that the boot sure fits like a glove, and I don't share your same trepadations regarding the mounting pin. It looks like it is built to last a lifetime.

Regarding the shear bolt... Nope me neither, I didn't have the foresight to buy spare bolts before I actually needed them! I did however have one (or maybe two) pieces of the bolt ex post facto. Indeed, I had to drive a boken piece out with a punch.

Thanks again for the "1000 words" they are ringing in my ear.....LOL Yeah mine doesn't go under the lip like that (see attached). I see yours also appears to have a cut out for the orange tabs and mine seems to be molded to go over them.

I put my grass catcher on today and took a picture of the 3pt. assembly. In the picture you can see the lift arm levelers are removed from the lift arm (port side) (A) and the hydro servo ears (starbord side) (B) and the yoke in the top link brakcet pined by a top link pin (C).

Heck who needs a bagger the way the top of the deck collects the leaves! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif... Looks like your does the same thing as mine! Walnut leaves are sticky too!

Those leaves sure do get everywhere, especially when you plug up the chute (because the bags are full) and keep on mowing them. Of course you'll know by the taste that it has happened.....LOL /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Mine was about $1600, but it was included as part of the package with my new unit.
