I have a minor problem that I was hoping a fellow BXer could help me with.
I don't use (or plan to use) the turn signals much but recently they have gone haywire. I noticed, while I using the loader yesterday, the left one was on and the right blinking while the switch is in the off position. Then it would stop, both would light, then both be off. It enjoyed playing this routine (or a version of it) for an hour yesterday before I was finished and then I removed the "bad" switch.
My question is: If you turn on either signal does the other side stay lit while the one you chose blinks and vice versa? I was "ringing" out the harness and this is what I get. Seems to be OK but since I never bothered to use the signals I don't know if that is how they worked before.
BTW, does anyone have a wiring schematic for the BX that they would be able to share?
Thanks.
David

The behavior that you are seeing with the turn signals is correct. the turn is indicated by flashing, while the other signal stays lit. I have a diagram at home and will try to image it for you tonight. Unless my "boss" has other plans for me....

Thanks CharlieBrn,
As a heads up on your BX, the switch looks like a real cheapo (as most manufacturer's will use) and other than hosing down the BX every now and then (the rocker gets wet) I can't see why it failed. I'll get another switch from the dealer and install it instead of bringing it in for the repair. Thanks for the offer of the schematic.

Your dead on about the switch being a real cheap one. My dealer has replaced a handfull of them sofar. He said he is seeing it on equipment that either sits outside in the weather or gets plenty of TLC with the garden hose and a bucket of water.

david: would imagine that they are the same as your car. when u put turn signal on the other one stays on.my question is , why would they even put turn signals on a tractor? flashers i can understand. but turn signals?

It's just common curtesy to let the groundhogs know which way you are going to turn when your out in the field.

Frank, I take it folks don't drive their tractors on the public roads around Buffalo like they do here./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif I sure use my turn signals.

My Masseys don't have turn signals, my Satoh doesn't, but my Deere does... What a treat... maybe those drivers behind me now can see the "flashing light"... they never saw my hand/arm signals.../w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Frank, now I realize why you don't need turn signals...
you have to be moving... not stationary.../w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif
