BX22: 3 Point Hitch Speed Control Knob Removal

I have everything needed to remove the floor out of the way in order to replace the trans cooling fan, EXCEPT the 3 point hitch speed control knob. I cannot tell if it threads on the shaft or is a press fit like the MMMD height control knob.

I really do not want to break it. Does anyone know which it is? (It took two huge levers and an ungodly amount of force for a piece of plastic to get the height control knob off, but I had read it was a press fit, so I went for it and it popped off without breaking or ripping the shaft out, much to my amazement.)

heat gun or a blow dryer makes the press fit knobs slip on and off rather easily...

It's only friction fit. A lot of friction, but that's all.

I"ve got my HST cooling fan ordered. I went out yesterday to see just how hard the 3 point hitch knob was going to be to get off.........it took some effort but it came off and I almost hit myself in the **** chin with it.

Doc, did you run in to any gotcha's when you replaced your fan other than boots being torn? Any wisdom you'd like to share before I attempt replacing my fan?

Could not completely remove the floor with the loader attached. Next time, do that before stuffing in garage. Fortunately, engine removal was not needed. Could slide everything enough to get fan out and in. However, DEFINITELY take this opportunity to rebuild/regrease your CV joints and install new boots. (Remember the K2561-14160 O-rings.)

I am waiting for new CV joint parts to complete.

Thanks Doc. I was planning on removing the FEL any how because I've got a fuel leak on the pump sde of the engine that I need to track down.

What K2561-14160 O-rings are you talking about?
