This is my first post about my first tractor. Here goes... I searched the archives but couldn't find any help there. While using the box scraper I noticed the FEL boom was acting funny, would go up OK but not down. Then the 3PH wouldn't go up. One of the archive threads talked about a connection between FEL problems and the 3PH. I removed the scraper and can EASILY move the arms up and down with no resistance. I adjusted/pulled/pushed all the levers and knobs I could, no help. Feels like whatever gears where there aren't there anymore. If I have indeed stripped something, is this something I could try to fix myself? I looks like this area is fairly accessible. I'm assuming the FEL problems are related to the 3PH and fixing the 3PH will fix the FEL. Does that sound right. Is there another explanation? I hope someone can help. Thanks, Dan

Dan,
First, welcome to TBN.
Now, since your profile says you have no tractor, you might help everyone out by letting us know what brand/model. They can help out easier. Do you have any idea how long it's been since the hydraulic filter was changed? Could there be a clogged screen somewhere? The 3PH has no down pressure(proabaly), so I assume it's not too hard to raise the lift arms on most tractors.

edit........wow sorry, I missed the heading, says its a BX22

Easy fix... with the tractor on flat ground, and the loader lowered, check each one of the disconnects that go from the loader to the loader hydraulic valve. One of these has come loose. My bet it is the one with the <font color="red">red</font> colored cap. The engine needs to be off and then before you try to reattach it, run the loader handle in all directions.

Thanks for the fast replies. The Filter was replaced and screen was checked last month. Junkman, I'll follow your recommendations tomorrow and hope for the best.
Thanks, Dan

Well, I couldn't wait. I went out into the darkness with my flashlight to try and find a loose connection at the FEL per Junkman. Bingo... Found it... Re-attached it... Fired that puppy up and hello Joyville! Thanks for the help Junkman. You can bet if I ever have any other hydraulic issues with this thing I will be giving all of the connections a very close inspection. This forum is great. Dan

I got stumped by this when I first purchased my BX22. Drove almost a hour away to the Kubota dealer to buy some Super UDT to add to the system because it was a few teaspoons low. When I came back, I saw the connection was apart. It still happens when one hose rubs across the other. I have no idea why they come apart so easily under pressure, but it does happen. Be thankful that that you were not told what I was.... bring it in at your earliest convenience and we will look at it. Not one word about a hose coming apart from the service manager. You will find that it is always the same one that comes apart. On mine, it is the red... same on yours?????

All of mine are black. The one that came loose is right on top so I can easily keep an eye on it. I thought it would be fun to call the local dealer service department, describe my symptoms, and see what they say. I'll see how mischievous I feel tomorrow.

That is strange. All the rubber caps on my BX are color coded so you know what line goes where. I wonder if this is done only on the 4 way valve, because they know that the three way valve will never be removed and put back on the tractor to operate another front mounted implement such as the snow blower or plow blade. If it wasn't dark outside, I would take a picture so you can see how mine was shipped by Kubota. Glad that all is well now. You might consider purchasing some different colored vinyl tape and color code your hoses for the future reference if you ever disconnect them. It can be a bear to figure out if you don't have an idea what goes where. I learned this with the BX2750 snowblower. I have to try the hoses to see which one goes where to get it to work. One of these days, I will take my own advise and color code them also. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Well, I called the dealer service department today and described my "problem". He immediately directed me to check all of my hydraulic couplers, one of them was probably loose. Score one for the dealer. On my BX22, the valve(4 way?/3 way?) is attached to the FEL. There are two short lines, male/female, and one long line from the tractor that feed it. The length/sex of the lines/couplers are such that accidently switching isn't possible.
