I have had the problem of the hydraulic couplers coming apart for no reason for many years, and have never found a reason for this happening. I can be using the backhoe, and shut the machine down for lunch, and when I come back, one of the couplers will have uncoupled. It happened again yesterday, and it drove me crazy till I found the one that had uncoupled. It was the one located under the backhoe frame, and it is tucked up in there so well, that nothing could contact it. Has anyone else had this problem?

Is it the same coupler that's coming apart all the time?

Those couplings can partially connect but not be fully seated and will make the hydraulics act funny like that. If you can't get it to solidly click in place when you try to connect it, there may be something wrong with that coupler.

It is a different coupler each time, and as an example, the backhoe has been on since last spring, and the couplers have not given me any problems all summer. Now that it got cold, both hose couplers on the backhoe came apart, for no reason.

You're either being pranked by someone or there's a poltergeist with a thing for your BX22. :confused3: Seriously, I can't guess why different couplers would randomly separate like that. You might try posting this is the Hydraulics section. There are some TBN members with a lot of knowledge and experience in hydraulics (unlike yours truly) who might pick up your problem over there and give some expert advice.

It's a common problem. I have had the same thing happen to me, usually with 3 different couplers. I replaced 2 sets (the new couplers from Kubota are different than my originals from 2001). I am having another coupler set exhibit the same problem and will replace that set shortly. I did notice that I have difficulty seating them together and have had to put pressure on the female side pin to be able to get them to connect.
