all of the heirs involved here all live in Alaska and Seattle, WA. SO, getting documents signed and notarized is that difficult except for one who live "off the grid" and her sister has to take the documents to her. PIA

Even though the BX is not officially my yet, I'll be excersising "Fred" this weekend. I Had to have a rather large and tall pine that the beetles got to cut. I paid a bonded tree cutter to come lay the tree down since it was close to my shop and I'm no lumber jack. "Fred-n-me" are going to do the cut up, clean and haul.

I'll be thinking of and thanking my friend Jimmie Fred the entire time.

Sorry to read this... lawyers may be needed for some things, but they seem to have spent too much time writing laws that provide work for themselves, and for that reason alone many of them will rot in **** when the time comes, but in the meantime... I have several tools that belonged to folks no longer with us, and each time I use them, the original owner comes to mind, along with a sadness at their passing. I am glad to have their things, for the simple reasons stated in this thread earlier- remembrance!
Good luck in this saga, and don't forget to bring the thread back to life when it finally gets settled.

I am mixed...I want to say that is great news, but you know.....this is what your friend would have wanted.

Me too... bought a home from an elderly couple... very nice people.

Al had a work bench with neatly stored items in wooden boxes fitted for each... real care went into it and I remember him sitting at the bench in the one car garage listening to the game on the radio... even his cement trowels had fitted boxes.

All was 85 and had a heart attack... I helped where I could... one day his widow called and said she had a big favor to ask... she said Al always thought the world of me and she wanted me to have his tools...

That was 30 years ago and every time I use one it brings back good memories...

I have to confess I am not nearly as protective as I could with tools I buy... but, then times were really hard back in the 1930's and a Marshall Trowel was a prized procession and Al's tools are to me.

Tools with a history are the best. After my wife's dad passed away suddenly, her mom gave me some of his tools (he was a Diesel mechanic). More than once I've gone into that old Mac box and come out with just the right tool, or piece of hardware that I needed to get the job done.

Ultrarunner, your observation above caught my eye and mind. Something we should stop and consider more. Thanks.

All, we had our day in court this past Friday, the 16th, with a new judge. None of the credit card companies that had claims on the estate showed up. The judge set all assets aside, denied all claims and closed the estate. The BX is now officially mine. Now I can start repairing all the things that need that attention and hopefully bring the little tractor back to what it once was.

Thanks to all that have replied to this thread over the past two year. I'll be posting new threads concerning the repairs and other questions I know I will have......Thanks again.

Its been probably three or four months since the little tractor was run, so I went, I cranked and drove it around some. First order of business now will be to change all fluids and filters. then replace the hydrostat fan, CV boots and joints then an outing with the grease gun. After all that, mount the backhoe and find leaking hoses since more than one is leaking. If I run in to issues doing all this new threads will be opened.

Anyone correct me if I'm wrong, but I've read that the hydrostat fan can be replaced without having to slide the engine forward.

Congratulations... I've wondered how it turned out...

Your persistence paid off and you did it by the book...

Every time you have a BX job it remind you of your friend!

Be careful if the fan is shot... some have fabricated split ones and others on some BX models have been able to loosen everything and squeeze one in... good luck!

Congrats on the outcome. Back when I had a BX2200 I was able to replace the fan without moving anything. It's not an easy job but is possible.
