Tried to use my BX22 this morning and the gear shift is stuck in the high range and won't move. Owner's manual says don't force it, and to try holding the brake pedal down for several seconds to get it into neutral. This didn't work. Since I can't get it into neutral, I can't start it. Has anyone had this problem, or does anyone know the cause and cure?

I've dealt with that problem alot. If you lift the seat and follow the lever back to the top of the Hydro you will get a pretty good idea how that lever moves. I usually find dirt and gravel gets slug up there and binds the lever. I bought one of those spring claw part retrievers at a local auto parts store to fish the gravel out with. Keep it with the tractor. That and a good hosing off clears it out pretty good.
You probably have some smaller stones packed underneath the lever too, so try to clean them out.

You will notice a white switch down there with a button facing the front of the tractor. Thats the nuetral start switch. The lever pushes this in in nuetral and allows the tractor to start. Take a long screw driver or whatever and push the button back as you turn the key. Make sure your brakes are set as you are still in gear. This should get you to the hose to clean it out good.

Thanks, I wish it had been as simple as debris around the linkage. What I found when I jacked it up and pulled the right rear wheel was a broken hydraulic control lever feed back rod - snapped in half with the back part wedged against the gear shift. When I removed the jammed broken rod it shifted smoothly into neutral and started right up. Guess I'm off to the dealer for parts tomorrow.

I do appreciate the location of the neutral switch and how to bypass it if necessary!

My BX2350 starts in any range. Did Kubota change something?

Try some WD-40 sprayed into the linkage inside the right rear tire. The linkage requires lubrication to operate smoothly.
