Is the main difference between the B7500 and the BX2200 the hydraulic pump. It looks like the B7500 can pump more than the BX2200 so it can use larger implements. The B7500 also has a larger frame and tires

I got a price on a new BX2200 with FEL, 60" MMM, & BB for $12,800 including tax and delivery ($800 of this is tax).

A guy at the Kubota place was getting his tractor serviced and he saw me looking at the BX2200. He said he had a B7500 with HST, 5' Bush Hog, 5' RFM, grill guard, and FEL that he would be willing to sell for $13,500 (no sales tax on this one) with 20 hours and 1 year old.

So what is the better deal....The used B7500 or the new BX2200. One particular thing I do not like about the BX2200 is that there is no tach. I am use to watching the tach when I get into some heavy grass so I can ease off of the grass.

I'm no expert on these 2 models, but I believe the B7500 also has more torque than the BX2200 or maybe it has the same torque at a lower rpm. Hmm... See told you I was no expert!/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif I guess I'll have to do some reading.

If it were me and I was pleased with the condition of the used 7500 I would definately go for the 7500. It is still under warranty and not even broken in yet. Having read alot of other posts I find that most people say get as much tractor as you can afford. Having been in a position where I owned a 7500 and later traded up to a 2710, I wish I had got the 2710 in the first place.

Like Yukon, I would take a long look at the 7500. If it is in good shape, I'd jump on it. I too started out on a B7100 and had to upgrade to a B2410. I now have exactally the machine I needed all along. Your needs may be smaller but between the two machines there would be no contest for me.

RRiche,
I own a B-7500 and could not be more happy. That sounds like a good deal I would check about the 5ft bush hog manual recommends 4ft. If you plan a lot of brush cutting where ground clearance is a concern you will really appreciate the B-7500, if finish mowing is your primary goal the BX may be the better choice. My only regrets is not buying the FEL maybe Santa will be good to me this year! Guess I'll need a big tree to fit it under./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

I have a B7500hst. I just finished cleaning up a frence row. I have a fel on my 7500 and it was a real blessing loading all the brush and an old tree that had blown down. JIM

I looked at both when I was tractor shopping. The BX seemed more like a garden tractor on steroids, where the B7500 fit the role of compact tractor better. My 6'-4" bod fits the B7500 better, and my right leg doesn't need to bend at an awkward angle to use the goofy boomerang HST pedal. The B7500, IMHO, gives you a lot more bang for the buck. It's more tractor than I need for 90% of what I do, but I wouldn't go back to a smaller unit again.

My usage is mowing the 2+ acres we live on and another 5 or so for others. Clearing snow (feast or famine here in PA) from my 300' drive and a couple others. Rotary mowing very infrequently at another place. Normal "Harry Homeowner" stuff, made much easier via FEL. Spraying lawn for weeds. My Ford 1210 has served well for about ten years, and I really didn't need the 7500, I wanted it. Glad I spent the money on a new tractor I can maintain properly from the start. I'm 53, so this could very well be the last tractor I buy. The Ford that the B7500 is replacing is around 20 years old, and looks like it will keep working for a while................chim

Well, if the 7500 really is only one year old, really only has 20 hours that might be a good bet. The 5 foot rotary cutter is too large for a 7500--says so in the manual and while it would likely do fine for grass cutting it would be too large for brush. The Rear mower sounds good in terms of size--if you really want a RMM.
The BX is a much better mowing machine than the 7500, it has a superior MMM and all in all is easier to handle while mowing. I have attempted to use RMM and do not like them.
You will have to decide if the package with the 7500 is what you want, does it have a MMM??if it is not then a cheap price there is not so cheap if you have to get other items --MMM etc. The hydrualic output of the BX, by the way, is more than sufficient. It's loader responds faster than my 2410's FEL. Is there still a warranty? I would be tempted to get the 7500, sell the too large 5 foot cutter and RMM and get a MMM and a 4 foot brush cutter or if First Choice really would make the 54 they said they might produce--with side shift!!! I have the 2001 B7500hst with the la302 loader, and a 4 foot brush hog. It is a nice machine that I picked up used with 39 hours on it. I highly reccomend a toothbar for the loader, it makes a huge difference. I like being able to run the little tractor into the woods, so I like the ground clearance. I would not get a smaller tractor for my useage.

I have totally changed the look around my place with the Kubota. Tonight, I took 24 heaping bucket loads of composted horse manure out of the pile and used it to fill in tire ruts on the edge of the yard and made the wife very happy.

I have brush hogged new bridle trails through my woods, into areas that I haven't been to for more than ten years. Got more big points from the wife by stone boating a huge rock out of the woods to the yard. She first asked for that about 15 years ago.

OK I'm having fun,
Boone

I have a 2000 B7500 HST and I have put about 40 hrs on it since this spring. I also would highly reccommend a tooth bar for the bucket. You can't smooth the dirt with a tooth bar, but I find it more useful than just the bucket. The higher ground clearence is great.

I could have used the extra torque and larger wheels of the 7500, but I ended up with the BX because the MMM is suspended. The MMM on the 7500 rolls on the guide wheels, for better or worse. Most opinions and mine are that the suspended is going to give you a better cut and won't get beat up so bad especially if you are cutting rough ground.

I'm one who wants all the bells & whistles on anything I buy. Yes, bigger is better. I started looking at bx 1800 then 2200, 7400 and finally went to the 7500 (that's where my dollar figure stopped). I have yet to see anybody post a topic on the 7400. I would choose a tractor you think will work, then go one size bigger.
I will say though, alot of people have bx's and love them.
Just my opinion.

My understanding is that the RCK54-75B Economy Deck MMM for the 7500 is still "suspended", but has the cutting height adjustment with Lever and Pin on 3-Pt. Hitch as compared to the gauge wheel adjusted cutting heights that are available on the -24B model and the BX mower. (This is mostly a quote from their web site.)

So it seems you can still get the same BX type dial adjustment on the 7500 if you get the RCK60-24B. Is this true? Any comments on the quality of the mowing with the 7500 or 2410 compared to the BX?

/ BX2200 vs B7500 #14
No, to my knowledge, while the 54 inch MMM for the 7500 is a suspended type, it does not have the dial type adjusment the BX has.
I did not realize that there was another person who ownes two Kubotas, a BX and a 7500--Littlediesel--who said what I have said before (my BX and 2410), the BX is far superior at mowing to the 2410/7500. There is no real comparsion and the versatility of the BX is also superior in my opinion. Frankly, the BX aquits itself well against the 2410 and really the main difference between the two is that the 2410 has larger wheels. Yeah, the 2410 handles the boxblade better and it's loader gobbles up more dirt but the fact remains that the BX still can do the same jobs, just maybe a tad slower and when it comes to mowing the BX just puts the 2410 to shame. Disclaimer---the above are based on my experiences with my tractors generally under identical conditions and therefore represent my opinions--others may vary. J

I would go with the B 7500, it's a compact tractor. The BX series is really a 4WD garden tractor. The way to tell the difference between a tractor & lawn/garden tractor is the
rotation of the engine. If your standing in front looking at
the engine, all cars, trucks & tractor rotate clockwise but
all shaft drive lawn/garden tractor rotate counter clockwise.

I owned a 2200 for one weekend and took it back and traded up to the 7500. We mow (bush-hog) 20 acres of pretty rough pasture up here in Maine and the 2200 wasn't up to the task. The 7500 is much more powerful (more hp on less RPM), has better ground clearance, larger tires (which make a huge difference), and is based on a real working tractor design rather then the smaller "frame type" which the 2200 uses. I would definetly buy the 20 hour 7500. Thank the guy for getting it broken in and go home and put it to work. Many days I wish my 7500 was bigger, but I simply can't afford any more machine! Good luck.

Interesting thread - since I bought a used Ford for the woods and rough stuff, I have been looking at smaller units for mowing and yard work. The 7500 was where I was aiming, too.

Mark - whereabouts are you? I'm near Augusta - welcome aboard!

I just went through the same situation, and bought the B7500. I have about two acres to mow with the 60" MMM, and do not regret getting the B7500 over the BX2200 a bit. I operated both before I bought, and feel the B7500 is a an actual tractor, where the BX seems a little like a gardern tractor. I was concerned with mobility of the larger machine, and frankly, there is no noticeable difference. The B7500 turns a much tighter radius than my old garden tractor. I think sitting up higher on the B7500 gives you a better perspective for maneuvering obstacles, also. In addition, I heard the lower 3pt height of the BX can cause a problem on some implements. Don't want to limit your future projects, or purchases! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif Yes, the B7500 is 21 HP and the BX is 22, but there is a noticeable torque difference in the two. The 7500 has more at a lower RPM. When I was originally looking, my dealer said the engine in the B7500 is the same one that Kubota built their name on in the compact tractor market from their start in the late 60's (...for what it's worth).
With the few hours (and only you can see the condition) I would not bat an eye at buying a good used B7500. I did find one used one month after I bought mine new /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif, but after all the thoughts of saving some $$$, they wanted almost the same price I bought mine new for! /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif It only had about 50 hours. They certainly do not deappreciate like a car or truck /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif.
Sooooooooooo, that leads me to a few questions: Was his B7500 the one in the shop? If so, for what. If all the B7500 owners on this post love /w3tcompact/icons/love.gif our B7500's, then why is he selling it with 20 hours on it? Upsizing? Does the dealer have any history on the one for sale?
Keep in mind... you'll ALWAYS look cooler /w3tcompact/icons/cool.gif on the BIGGER Bota! /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

knucklehead: We have some land behind the cement plant off US1 in Thomaston. I have become a bit of a slave to the place and after eight years of saving and study we finally broke down and bought a tractor. I would have been more than happy with a very old tired model, but Maura and the boys were neither comfortable or safe on machines built in the fifties with 5,000 hours on them. Now I feel very spoiled riding around in the fields on a new orange diesel machine! I tried to get it with an antique finish so the neighbors wouldn't get suspicious, but the dealer said only time provides that.

I am sturggling to get the MMM to fit inside the standard wheel base which is why I joined TBN. I have posts under "implements" and "use". The dealer is trying to get Kubota to respond with no luck (yet). Its a small 54" deck and the right hand tire hits the gauge wheel. We try to mow the lawn with the MMM with pretty good success. Its really as handy as a lawn tractor with a lttle fore-thought and care. Keep in touch, I'm at markantonfitz@aol.com for non TBN correspondence.

I looked at both of these models before making my choice a few weeks ago. IMHO the 7500 has a more comfortable driving position than the BX ( maybe my fat body /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif). I'm sure both tractors will do a lot of work, but make sure you take the time to give them both a good drive. After all you'll have plenty of hours in the seat however you choose. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
